Warning: Lots of large images incoming!

It has been a year since I have wrote the Sakura figure in glass case here a couple months from my last article. After looking at different lighting options and figuring out how to mount different led lights inside the glass case I have finally finished.

First I ordered these lights off Amazon for the top portion and these lights for the bottom portion.

I went to the hardware store and got some plywood cut that fits within the display case. The display case has a mirror underneath the felt on the base and I didn't feel like drilling into the mirror or trying to break it while removing the mirror. This method does add a little bit of height to the figure but I thought it was ok. After sanding the piece of wood and painting black, I applied little concave areas for the wire route out of the lights. The lights have wires coming out of the bottom of them and it is very hard to just drill them into the piece of wood with the wires sticking out.

With both sets lights in you can articulate the them to shine directly on the figure. Each pair of lights were placed in a corner and the wires channeled under the lights on the groves of the wood I added.

I also need to put felt over the wood so that the figure can sit comfortably on top while hiding the wires. I then added holes into the felt and put the wires through before drilling the lights onto the base.

Lastly moved the wires to the back of the stand and sleeved some of the white cables together. Each set of 4 lights connect to a single wire which then I used a Y splitter cable to connect them into 1 single power source (I believe each power source can support up to 12 lights). There will be a gap at the back because of the wires; I put some foam over so that the glass top does not pinch the wires.

Finally placed onto the subwoofer stand. Put Sakura back on top and carefully put the glass back on. Dim the lights and it was complete.

With no bottom lights it looks like this:

Kinda boring right? That's why the bottom lights were added. Here are some different angle shots, enjoy.

And finally zoomed in

And that's it, took me awhile to finish this small project but it was well worth it. The lights really shows all the figure's shine and polish especially in person.

I hope you enjoyed my little article and thank you for reading. I hope to do another diorama with the Saekano couch girls some time when I get to designing it. And maybe who knows if I pick up that wallet killing rem bust next year.

matthewn4444 (7 months ago) #43424657Thanks, the name was engraved by the people who sold the case. If the previous article I linked where I bought it from, not cheap though. Definitely doesn't look cheap. The display makes the figure look more expensive.
