Losing Figure Boxes, Do You Keep Yours?Losing Figure Boxes, Do You Keep Yours?

NewHarvestNewHarvest5 months agoAsk MFC
Early this year in May, my house burned down. Yep.

I didn't lose any of my figures but I lost every single box I had for my figures and all additional pieces that came with my figures. I never planned on selling my figures but now I'm torn on if I should continue to keep my boxes or break them down for storage. After everything, I think I'm just wanting things to be easier for myself this coming year but don't know what would be best for my collection.

I would keep them, or at least the plastic packaging. It makes transporting them so much easier, especially if they have tiny pieces. Also, your collection is adorable and I'm happy you didn't lose any of them!

I keep em cause if i move out, boxes are great. Plus if i ever fall out of love with some, i can sell em without a huge loss. They dont rlly take much space thats visible as theyre behind a screen/barrier in the attic

If i didnt have the space then i would throw away figs i would never sell (like my louises) in the past i threw 2 away tho...

I prefer to keep boxes because if one day you plan to sell for the need of money , then you can sell them easier and with higher price . Some boxes are really cool and nice . Or at least sell the box only don’t destroy them , some one willing to buy them .

Sorry about your house.

I have been throwing out boxes recently since they take up too much room in my well...room! i will keep some that i don't want to throw out. I told myself I want less clutter, so I throw out the box. For smaller boxes i use them as risers, so i have been holding on to them (straps, gashpons)

I keep them but mostly because I still live with my parents with plans of moving out on the medium to far future so having the boxes to pack the figures is actually a way to help be less worried when the time for moving out comes

I throw out the boxes for trading figures on the whole, or prize figures I'm pretty sure I'm not selling. Or nendoroids I KNOW I'm not selling.
Scale figure boxes, however, I will NOT toss. I will never know if I need to sell them for any reason (I had to sell one as a money emergency that I normally would never have sold), so I keep them around. I figure a scale is too expensive to throw the box away for.

Thank you everyone for the input! I guess the thing that really sucks is that my two favorite figures

are very fragile and now I don't know how to store those either because their boxes burned ^^;

But I appreciate all the help! I feel more at peace with how I'm going to organize my collection from now on.

Once you start ditching a few boxes, it's very freeing to realize how it's not a big deal. I never keep prize figure boxes, b/c I don't feel like they add much value at all.

I decide which boxes to keep based on how much protection it gives to the figure should I want to sell in the future and how much I predict a figure may be worth. If I think a figure won't be worth much in the aftermarket and it's fairly simple and won't break just being shipped with bubble wrap, then I may ditch the box - especially if I don't have any immediate plans to sell.

if the figure comes with a blister to hold it in place, I keep the box. I don't have alternative storage solutions for my figures, and I don't want to bother.

I throw away nearly everything else. if the box has an especially nice piece of art on it, i might fold it flat, or just cut off the part I want to keep and stick to the fridge. I don't want to have too many useless things forever packed away for no reason. It's either useful or not (and if not, then I gotta get rid of it.)
