I have never had a positive experience with GSC supportI have never had a positive experience with GSC supportAsk MFC

This marks the third time I had inquired about a problem with a Nendoroid with GSC support and each time I have been refused support service.

Incident #1
A long time ago, when Fujiwara no Mokou's Nendoroid came out, I was refused a new faceplate to replace one of the faceplates that had a clear paint problem with the eye. The white reflection in the eye had been applied incorrectly and blobbed onto the rest of the eye, making it look extremely messy and clearly problematic.

Incident #2
A few years back, I had begun the process of moving and I kept some of my Nendoroids unopened to keep from doing double work of opening, re-packing, then opening again when I arrived at my new house. About 3-4 months after I had received my Kashima Nendoroid, I finally was able to open her up, only to find a huge black fingerprint of paint on her back hair part. I sent in pictures, but was refused a replacement because "we don't know if the box was opened and it's been too long". I sent them pictures of my invoice directly with pre-order visible and the shipment, date of receipt, and pictures of the Nendoroid box for authenticity, as well as pictures of the box before it was opened because I have had this happen before and they still refused because they said they couldn't verify whether or not I had tampered with the product and I am seeking a replacement for my own mistake.

Incident #3, which I just received a response for
I opened a brand new Miku Nendoroid and the Nendoroid had a broken hair joint out of the box. I took pictures, etc., and GSC has refused to replace the joint, despite the fact that it's a non-standard color for the hair joint and is not one of the typical duplicates they include with the Nendoroids in the stand packaging.

I have a lot of GSC products, but not once have I ever had a pleasant, positive experience when I have had a problem with any of them. I'm getting extremely frustrated and I don't understand where anyone is coming from when they say they have great experiences with GSC support and that GSC is one of the best in the business when it comes to customer support.

I hate the fact that I get treated as if I'm trying to cheat the system or something or that I'm trying to steal from them. I just want replacements for the broken or messed up stuff they send me.

Has anyone else had poor experiences with GSC support? Did the problem ever get resolved? Was there anyone else you were able to speak to regarding the problem? These issues literally cannot be escalated beyond their "customer support representative", especially when there's no representative name being used. I cannot seem to get any other response no matter how severe the problem is. All you get is "sorry, we can't/won't help, sucks to be you" from them and nobody seems to care.

Now I have a Miku with one ponytail and I can't really display her like that. I can't get another teal hair joint unless I buy some other Miku and take the joint and replace it with one from the second purchase.

Hm thats strange. I never had a bad experience with GSC before. I dont see why its so hard for them to send you a replacement its not like you’re opening a dispuit or anything.

A similar incident happened with my girlfriend's leonardo watch nendoroid. A broke piece. She bought it directly from goodsmile's shop, we contacted them and they ignored the email.

Think of it this way. At least you got correspondence on a denial. And at least there was an avenue that something could happen if approved.

Alter on the other hand can rot in a fire for their support. Even if you can convey what you are asking in Japanese, and not the Google translated crap, aka with real Japanese, they won’t do a damn thing unless you are in Japan.

My experience was good, but wow...I'm astonished people are getting pieces from them that THEY MISPLACED. When I requested a part that came missing I needed proof that it came that way, that I just received it, etc.

Akira2 years ago#49283471I'm not sure If bad, but unsatisfying experience: I ordered back in the day a brand new Gakupo Nendoroid (from Amiami), and it came with an excess coating on his face, making it a little rough on the surface/to the touch. I asked them If it was normal, and said yes. None of my other nendos had that issue, so It was kinda lame that they gave me that answer personally.
Still, It sucks you got the short end of the stick when you provided proof and all :/ I blame actual trash people who lied to get free spares from them on their CS becoming more strict.

I think around this time period they were just doing that on all their nendoroids. My Erica Hartmann nendoroid from a similar time period has the same issue and they gave me the same excuse. Funny, I just thought mine was a one off as well.

tharglet2 years ago#49176797Were you comparing the base to other people's figures or the pre-production base? I know some people get mixed up with that.
If you want to ask here, there is this bootleg thread, or if you use Reddit /r/AnimeFigures has a stickied thread for people to say if you think you have a bootleg.
If you take pics, try to do so in good lighting (e.g. sunlight) and take some focused close-ups of paintwork/seams. And this base you're referencing.

I was comparing to user photos, plus I'd had the exact same figure before, and the first time I got it, I'd purchased from TOM. This one was from Mandarake, which also states they don't sell bootlegs, but I can't think of a possible explanation for the difference between the two figures.
GSC customer support did state the box (which had been unopened) did look authentic, but they said the base didn't look like the one they made. So, that just boggles my mind....

I'll try the MFC bootleg thread. I already posted in the anime figures reddit one, but no one ever responded to it.

That really sucks to hear, my experience with GSC support has been almost entirely positive. The only real time I was denied (IMO unfairly) was for ITEM #549503 which came with a nice paint chip on her ear and a number of spots of excess glue (The same glue issue I had with her counterpart ITEM #549502, which they were happy to provide a replacement main body). They said "We hardly recognize the defective point you mentioned" and that was that. I feel if i had taken a little more time to take better pictures and be more descriptive it might have had a different outcome (I was peeved that I had to do the same thing again for both Rem/Ram and didn't put in the effort)

SakuraUchiha2 years ago#49213057Oh wow, just looked through comments.Honestly just because GSC was nice to some of you,the fact that they were mean or just not good with other customers doesen't make it a perfect store with perfect customer service. The way they treated you seemed more just like an excuse to not send you a replacement and this is just not right especially since you provided proof. Why would you even break something you payed for yourself just to get a replacement?
I think people can only really judge based on their own experiences with customer service. Plus, she was asking about others experience with it, which most people seem to have had more positive than negative reasons.

There could be multiple reasons not to issue a replacement - not that I'm saying I agree or disagree with good smiles choice.

They do say on their website, however, that unfortunetly once stock of something runs out they can no longer issue replacements. Which makes sense for an older nendoroid, I also know that they ask for proof you purchased it new & not preowned.

The first issue clearly should have been fixed. But the second kinda is a grey area and although the Miku was brand new - what year/what Miku was it because they possibly could have run out of those joints and therefor cannot send one. Miku, does have varrying hair colors so you can't necessarily pull another hair joint from another miku and bam fixed.

And refusing replacements doesn't necessarily make a company mean.
