AnimeJapanAnimeJapan

So I have just realised AnimeJapan is on while I'm in Tokyo (I know I'm a bad fan but I honestly thought it was a week or so earlier) and now I'm wondering whether I should adjust my itinerary to go or just try and pick up stuff in Ikebukuro when I get back to Tokyo 2 weeks later.

Pro: I have only ever been to teeny tiny cons so new experience
Con: It's a long day in a packed venue
Pro: New merchandise I can buy from actually official sellers
Con: I like a lot of tiny series (Yona of the Dawn, Snow White with Red Hair, Yami no Kodou etc) and not so many of the big ones
Pro: I do like some characters in the big ones
Con: I would have to go on the second day, and with my luck the ones I'm interested in will be sold out

...and so forth.

I'm wondering if it's better to stick to my initial goals for the day (Nakano/Akihabara) which might be a bit quieter and then try and pick up any cool merchandise in Ikebukuro.

Has anyone been and can offer some insight to whether it's worth it or not?

ney (11 months ago) #50457634It's quite interesting if you never been to the Tokyo Big Sigh or only seen it on anime.
But AnimeJapan is not the most interesting experience, quite expensive if you consider the entrance fee + travel (luckily for you, there is the Rinkai line in Ikebukuro), the limited items are sold really quickly so you need to come really early.
You can take a look to the Exhibition list if something interesting you but keep in mind there is not so much to do except than watching presentation movie on each stand.
If you have a day without nothing planned, it can be interesting to take a look.

Hmm, maybe I'll give it a miss then. This is my first trip to Japan and there is a ton of stuff I want to do. Maybe if I manage to go again I'll give it a go.

Thank you ^_^
