Most prize figure boxes are like that. It's because they're designed to be prizes in a Japanese arcade game, at least some of which use a claw to grab things. The idea is that the claw grabs the side of the box (most boxes have indentations on the sides which can be poked open to form holes, which the claw can grab), and then the claw can pull/drag the box to the opening in the arcade game where you can claim your prize. By leaving all that 'extra' room, the claw doesn't damage the actual figure.

Agree with this being a standard thing for prize figures. If you're not wanting to unbox right now, you could put several prize inners in one box to save space.

I also flatten my prize boxes. Both parts will go flat, so don't take up much space when folded out, and you can always re-tape the box into its original form.

aaa yes i do know that ... i have a couple of other prize figures myself! it was just so jarring because
1) this box is just about bigger than a box for a scale figure i own
2) like 3x the size of the other prize figure boxes

that must be one large UFO catcher..

With prize figure boxes though if you want to keep them its pretty easy to take the cardboard out from the inside and open the top/bottoms and push them flat to store them. They should go back together really easily : )

Prize figure boxes are basically akin to chip bags. Lots of air inside.

mintbunny (2 months ago) #60890600As a collector of prize figures, I’ll warn you this is pretty standard nowadays lol. I toss the inner cardboard and flatten the boxes.ChibiSaturn (2 months ago) #60890239With the prize figures I have this seems to be the more common size. Taito has really nice boxes and actually uses blisters (as does the one Sega one I have) but FuRyu boxes are just like this. I broke them up and threw them away because they were just waaay too big.Jenthehen (2 months ago) #60886185Unless it's a rare prize or I REALLY think it's going to skyrocket or I want to sell right away, I do not keep prize figure boxes!!

well thats upsetting...i love hoarding boxes...prize figure or not. maybe ill cut back on keeping them displayed and start storing them normally...lol

even if theres no blister i always keep bubble wrap handy so ill still use them if i decide to move houses or store them again...atleast they wont be entirely boxless @_@
