Hello everyone! I will be trying my hand at a simple first review. The item today is the Shikinami Asuka Langley Longinus no Yari premium figure from Sega, ITEM #672703. I just received this figure today and like it a lot. I found this figure has not been reviewed just yet and would love to share some of my thoughts. Please note because of the plug suit outfit this review maybe considered NSFW and there will be a large amount of pictures and text.

Some background (feel free to skip): I recently completed watching the original series on Netflix as well as the follow up film End of Evangelion. I very much enjoyed the series, and am glad I got a chance to see it. Asuka quickly became a favorite character of mine despite not generally liking "tsundere" characters, as I think she clearly breaks out of that stereotype, especially in EOE. As such I picked up a couple of figures of her, as I am sure I will be more invested in the series as well. This particular figure is based on the Rebuild films but I have not gotten a chance to see those yet, though I found them for a great sale price recently. I look forward to it!

Being a prize figure her box is rather simple. Both the top, bottom and sides have the NERV organization logo in the characteristic red as well as some hexagons with Asuka's name, premium figure and some warnings written inside.

Inside her blister packaging, there is Asuka herself, her base and the three parts that make up the Lance. The base is very nice, featuring again the NERV orginzation logo in red, as well as the classic statement, "God's in his heaven, all's right with the world", View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/08/06/2273791.jpeg
. Asuka's foot features the wedge with pegs that fit into the base, View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/08/06/2273790.jpeg, and the Lance of Longinus can be put together rather easily, then just slipped into Asuka hand. The back of the box provides some picture instructions.View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/08/06/2273789.jpeg

The only thing is that her base is rather large, which may make her hard to display. As you can see in the next photo, the Lance of Longinus itself is very long and causes the figure to extended well out of the base.
The lance also features a nice spiral shape, though with closer inspection it is not a very detailed weapon lacking shading, but nice enough for this figure especially when viewed at a distance. And you can see her pose does an alright job at conveying forward motion.

For now lets take a closer look at all of the wonderful details that Asuka has. Starting with her very beautiful face. As you can see Asuka has rather surprised expression however depending on the angle the figure has a different feel. Her eyes are also just a lovely shade of blue and her bangs frame her face rather well.

She also has excellent detail work on the main body of her plug suit. All the transitions between the red and the black on the suit are well painted with very little paint bleed, I only noticed a slight smudge on one leg. Her wrists feature the yellow buttons which adjust the suit, and her fingers are pretty well sculpted. The details on her torso are well painted, especially the blue collar, green across the chest, small silver screws and the 02 as she is the proud pilot of EVA unit 02.

Taking a look at the back of the figure, there is the triangular shaped piece with 02 denoting her EVA unit again. She also has nice tread details on the bottom of her shoe. ( edit:behind spoiler bc slightly nsfw)

Lastly my favorite thing about this figure, her hair. From the back you can see how nicely her hair flows to the side to convey her motion. I especially like how they sculpted small tufts of hair that stick out from her twin tails along with the many strands that fan out. This shows how much care went into this figure. In the photo taken from above, you can see she has nice shading from the darker parts starting at the crown of her head and the tips of her bangs, as well as her famous red hair clips with clean painting too.

Now with sharing one last photo, I think there is a lot of wonderful things about this figure especially her hair and plug suit details. Seemingly few people have her but I would definitely recommend this figure for fans of Asuka or just NGE who want a nice detailed prize figure. I believe she can be found on Mandarake, AmiAmi and Solaris. Lastly, thanks for sticking through the review and have a wonderful evening! :)

Yes I agree that this look is much more moe than usual and I guess thats what attracted me to the figure at first!

Not really, I didn’t have to adjust it after I set it in for the first time and when I was taking pictures. But you do seem to need to push it much farther than I originally expected. Asuka hand has a kind of larger spacing. View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/LemonMIntCat1565057241.jpeg So she ends up holding close to the end. I have packed her away for now as I will have to see when I put her on display if the lance slides out.
