Boku no Hero Academia Himiko Toga Bell Fine 1/8th ReviewBoku no Hero Academia Himiko Toga Bell Fine 1/8th ReviewReview

This is my first review, so be gentle :p

One day I heard about this anime called My Hero Academia (yes yes I know it's BNHA on here, but MHA is shorter, hush) and all the positive reviews it received, so I decided to look into it starting with the manga. Here I am now having bought another one of the figures Bell Fine and Takara Tomy joined up to make. In this case, Toga Himiko.

For those who are unfamiliar with MHA, Himiko Toga is a member of the League of Villains, the primary group of antagonists. She's cute, energetic, and loves blood, fitting characteristics the archetypal yandere character, even developing a crush on Midoriya, the main character.

I was torn between Jiro and Toga's for a little while, but after some brief debate, I decided I liked the overall layout of Toga's better. Now she has arrived, and I'll walk you through every inch of her to help you decide if she's one to add to the ranks of your collection! Just a head's up: I've put most of them under read mores, but this article is very photo heavy. And with that out of the way, let's get to it.

Let's start with the box. The red and black color scheme is perfect for the League's little maniac, as well as being very visually appealing. I noticed that her's is smaller than Tsuyu's, likely because she doesn't have as many parts and her base is a bit smaller, more on that later.

Lo and behold, the knee brace is on full display in the back image. I think they might have made some adjustments from the prototype model, because I feel it's rather inconspicuous with the rest of the figure.

Now for the base.

What I love most about Bell Fine's BNHA figures is how creative and colorful the bases are. Usually you're lucky if you get the character's name on the base, and you have to be even luckier to have it a color other than white, but Bell Fine took it to a whole other level. Translucent red plastic to give you the impression of blood, along with a cloud of gray mist, giving you the feeling that she is lunging toward the viewer, or perhaps her "friends."

Something I noticed is that the "SHUCK!" part of her base is attached, rather than being removable.

Next, Toga herself.

(Obligatory Panty Shot under the cut :p)

Like the other characters in this series, she comes with different parts, making her very unique to display. Her sickly sweet smile and sharp items in her hands are a perfect contrast between cute and terrifying.

I think I prefer displaying her with the Vanguard Action Squad gear equipped, mostly because it was a pain to get her head off, wrestle the scarf in place, attach the plastic on said scarf to tanks in back (they're pretty flexible, so it wasn't so bad), and reattach her head. It's probably just the new scale feeling, though. Luckly, the knife holsters on her thighs are magnetic, so I didn't have any more stress thanks to them.

I know some people were complaining that her paint job looked paler and more washed out, but considering color theory (or my basic understanding of it), it pairs nicely with her deep red base. Not only that, but since she did most of her work under the cover of night before joining up with the League, it only makes sense that she looks paler than the other girls.

All in all, she's a solid addition to any collection, having one of the most dynamic poses out of any figure I own, and in terms of paint, pose, and color, Toga feels a little more polished than Tsuyu, probably because the former wasn't delayed.

As I mentioned before, the knee support may not fly well with some. If you're looking for a support-less one, ITEM #849844 will be coming out in December for those who are looking for an alternative; as well as Kotobukiya's, though it'll probably be a while before the prototype is unveiled.

Some may feel that she's overpriced for her quality, but if you can afford her, I would definitely recommend adding this great figure to the ranks of your collection!

Thank you for reading, and I hope you'll join me in the next one!

Nice review! I have the Bell Fine Froppy and she's really fantastic. I wonder why they didn't just use the blood on the base as support? (maybe have it splashing up at the knee?)

galablue1 year ago#68265317I absolutely love the bases on the Bell Fine MHA figures. It makes me want to pick the show back up and start collecting these girls. I typically stay away from figures which require braces, but this figure seems awesome with all of the extras!

You totally should. The intership arc (aka best arc to date) will be starting soon.

ChibiSaturn1 year ago#68265281One thing I think this figure would have benefitted from would be a brighter pink color for her tongue/inside of mouth as from the pictures it looks so light that it blends in with her teeth and creates a weird affect.

Part of that is probably my terrible Samsung camera lol. I usually have to rely on natural light for my photos, but I took that early in the morning which isn't the best time for photo shoots.

But yeah, her mouth does fade into the rest of her a little bit. It's a bit easier to see in person.
