Sailor Moon Stuff What I OwnSailor Moon Stuff What I Own

Been wanting to write this article for a while, where I talk about the most prominent items in my Sailor Moon collection.

A couple of notes: 1) none of the items here are for sale, and 2) while there's a good number of things I'd like to add to my collection, I am not made of money, and would also like to not get side-tracked while building funds for figma Astolfo. So if you've got any under-$50 offers, uh, keep an eye on this article for edits wrt: Astolfo, I guess...

Let's start with my SH Figuarts:

The Inners, who--like the Outers--have more-or-less permanent spots on my computer desk. For a while, I had them arranged such that Jupiter and Venus were in the back, but this wasn't 100% satisfactory as it obscured my view of them.

Sailor Moon was a Hamacon (RIP) acquisition; Mercury and Mars were bought off Amazon years apart, Venus was bought from MFC user Pankoujou (who also sold me fem!Ranma and Shampoo in the back there), and Jupiter--by far the most difficult of the Inners for me to obtain--was gotten from a US-based seller on eBay.

The Outers. (Amusingly, the way this setup turned out, it looks like Neptune is their leader. XD) Saturn was sold to me by neL, Uranus came from Amazon, Neptune was bought at the Deep (she was the first Outer I nabbed, and possibly found before even Sailor Moon), Pluto was found at Hamacon and put in the Christmas stash that year, and Chibi Moon came from HobbyLink Japan as a birthday present.

Yes, Saturn is using that holdy-thing that came with figma test suit Asuka; it's doing a better job than those clamps would. XD I think the reason Bandai didn't use something like that instead of said clamps is that they'd have had to make multiple sizes, but still...

Crystal!Moon, with bonus Madoka and Homura. Dad took my sisters and I to Toys 'R Us after the liquidation sales started really ramping up, and I got Crystal!Moon while one of my sisters got Super Sailor Mercury.

On to much older items...

Man, I have many memories attached to these. 'tis Irwin's Deluxe Adventure Dolls, the first real Sailor Moon toys I owned; I've had them since the early '00s, though Uranus came later. I think most of the Inners came from Toys 'R Us (specifically their old location next to Books-a-Million, which ended up outlasting it), and lemme tell ya--when I learned that there were actual SM dolls via that commercial with four of them gossiping about Jupiter only to have her dramatically enter the house from the rain, I was stoked. Finally, I could stop having my Barbies stand in for the Sailor Guardians!

Now, because I've had these dolls for a while, they're not in perfect shape--Jupiter and Uranus both have one loose leg each, Mercury's leg outright broke off at some point (note the hair tie), Sailor Moon's hair-tie rubber bands are being held on with spit* and hope, and I still need to find Jupiter's other glove and both of Mars's.

(* not literally.)

I mentioned that I got Uranus later than the other girls; we were at KB Toys (RIP) at the Madison Square Mall (RIP) one day ages ago, and I spotted her amongst the formidable clutter. Unfortunately, I did not get Neptune then or get the chance to go back for her...

The only other Irwin DA doll I have is Wicked Lady, who in my stories was more of a stand-in for Chibiusa. Like Sailor Moon, her rubber hair ties have crumbled into dust; the ones she's wearing now are new (relatively speaking).

The 6" Adventure Dolls actually belonged to my sisters first, though neither asked for them back after I cleaned 'em up. Poor Sailor Moon's skirt is all frayed, and that's not as easy a fix as "scrub with Mc. Clean pad".

"MROW~ MROW~"

Funtastic fact: the inside of Luna-P was where I kept my Irwin dolls' wands/Talismans.

I'm betting that this, like that prop Clow Wand they released around the same time, is not easy to come by now.

And finally, my two Irwin plushies (my sisters have Mars and Venus). They currently sit next to my pillow.

Not pictured: Funko POP! Jupiter and Saturn.

Some things I would like to own someday:

* Figuarts Tuxedo Mask and Sailor V. I mean, Mamoru's the only main character I'm missing who's not just a Super upgrade--and the only main character I don't have any figures of at all...

* Deluxe Adventure Doll Neptune and Pluto. And the Canada-only Saturn, if I suddenly have stacks of one-hundreds through fortuitous circumstance.

* More Irwin plushies, preferably the Outers. (They made a Saturn too, looks like--probably region-exclusive as well...)

* Some of the Funko mystery minis.

ChibiSaturn (1 month ago) #68773891Ahh this is great. Until a little over a year ago my collecting was basically only Sailor moon (and ccs but not as much) and seeing this made me think if I were to do an article like this it would take forever to put together

I think you should go for it if you have time. XD

FlyingToNowhere (1 month ago) #68776181Ah, Sailor Moon Figuarts. The thing what got me into this expensive hobby.
Love your collection! I picked up a lot of the Irwin dolls just recently, sadly Saturn will forever be missing since her prices are insane. Your post makes me want to get the villains now, too.

Hehe, thanks! ^^ (If only they'd released Saturn over here...) And good luck! I've been sorta thinking of getting Kaolinite, but Neptune and Pluto would have to come first.

MalGal (1 month ago) #68777601Oh my gosh the Irwin dolls! I remember as a kid carrying around Sailor Moon wherever I went, and eventually her left leg began to fall off. Think I also remember taking off Tuxedo Mask's jacket and top hat and using it on my favourite Barbie doll!
Looking back at them now, they really weren't the prettiest looking dolls on the market, but at least we got something to reenact the show with.

The later releases were at least better than the really off-model first ones, I feel. XD Kinda makes me wonder what a new US/Canada-based line of SM dolls would look like.
