I must have missed the e-mail

How is asking for advise the same as doing a shop review?

So once again I had a blog revoked and taken off the site. I have to say that this is somewhat annoying especially when I think that the blogs that I write are thought full and entertaining for the most part. Yesterday’s blog was about requesting information on Proxies. Please do not put anything about shops in this blog.

I have to say that I have enjoyed writing a lot more since I came here in 2012. It took me some time to get up the courage and start to write on the site as I am way older than your average collector. I put myself out there as they say and I have enjoyed the feedback when people responded to my blogs.

Back in the day shop blogs were ok. Some of them may have brought on debate and quarrels but I do not remember them getting totally hostel. Maybe I was naïve and only saw what it was that I wanted. I like to see the good in everything and believe that it is a way of life that leads to being calm and just plain happy with life.

Could an admin or someone with authority please explain the thought process behind not allowing certain types of blog being posted? I understand there is a shop forum but honestly it is so sparse that finding information in there is not always intuitive. This forum was brought about when you disallowed shop blogs thus bring us back to the point of why are they no longer allowed?

If controversy is not something that you want in blogs and you do not want any type of intimidation than why would you instill an up vote down vote on your blogs and your comments section. I am trying to understand this.

If we want some type of diversity in the blogs and have people writing about interesting topics or have questions for the community why not let blogs be what they are meant to be and that is a way of communicating freely. Who wants a repetitive list of the same blogs over and over again? We have our usual suspects when it comes to these. What figurine is your favorite which Saber do you own; which grail are you hunting ect. These are all great blogs but a little diversity in the mix would be nice.

Not everyone peruses the separate dedicated forms where I was asked to post. The shop forum to be more precise. I wanted to reach as wide of an audience with the blog and honestly since this was not a shop review I thought that it was ok to be posted in the blogs of the day. I was asking advice and not making a shop review.

In the end it is just frustrating to see a blog go down. It’s not like we have the same amount of people that blog on the site anymore. The people that do blog I think take the time; have the passion to post and make the site more interesting.

At least that is my two cents on the matter.

I look forward to comments below. Please be respectful of people commenting and let’s make this a positive look at how the site is managed when it comes to certain aspects of it.

Things really feel like they went downhill in terms of the social aspect around the time v4 came along. Yeah, the rules were always there and yeah they got enforced, but how strictly they seem to be where one wrong word that could potentially be seen as crossing a rule instantly gets things deleted without warning feels like it's been getting worse since around then. Though maybe the timing is my imagination.

It's likely some attempt to simply revitalize the forums which feels like the wrong way to go about it when navigating the things just feels hard to me in terms of trying to find the right place to post what you want, and frankly you'd accomplish better by simply making the forums easier to use instead of forcing you to use them by silencing your voice outside them.

The downvote feature getting added with v4 hasn't helped much either in my opinion. We aren't Reddit and all it's done is lead to ganging up on people and a new form of censoring views (no matter how much we may not like them) in hiding posts with enough downvotes that blend in with things to get lost entirely.

It's just almost not worth it to bother trying to post anything at all.

The no shop blog rules are because at some point articles were swarmed by AmiAmi questions.

Still I hate the fact that admins keep pushing people to ask questions on a dead forum board. Forums died 5 years ago, just bury them already and add a chat for such quick questions, goddamit.

Also it's a huge setback that blogs get straight deleted instead of making them private, even if a slight edit is only needed to make it viable. I stopped posting here altogether after this happened and I see that many people stopped posting articles on MFC, I bet it's because of that hidden hostility of mods against users.

Tiamat26 (22 days ago) #70582835It's all good even if you are the one that flagged the blog. It was up to the admins to determine that this was not a shop review which it was not. You just followed what you believed was the right thing to do. It's all good

I wasn't the one who flagged that article. All I did was mentioning and review the proxies I have used and their packing methods in the comment. So that might be part of the reason why your article was removed.

Anyways, to answer part of your last article, I'm sure any proxy company should work for you. Eyeglasses aren't that fragile and the one you want are made from titanium. Also, eyeglasses are usually wrapped in lens cloth inside a hard case. So they should survive the journey.

TyjosAzari (22 days ago) #70583312I like to read your blogs when they come up, you are one of the few remaining bloggers here that talk more about figures than the others and I hope you'll continue to blog in the future that is till this part of the site stops working and the readers depart from this place because of the usual reasons that are stated multiple times in various blogs that touch on some of the problems this site has.

Thank you for reading ... and I am glad that you like the blogs.

Tiamat26 (22 days ago) #70582929Thank you to everyone that read the blog and thank you for all the likes 20 for vs 6 against. Did not make my way into the blog of the day but to me this is a win. Almost a 4:1 ration of people liking the blog.
To those that commented I really appreciate it. This is what interaction in blogs to me is all about and it makes for interesting reading.

1. Yeah hence the blog I made requesting help with a proxy and which one were out there.

2. Now I wish that this was the case. Instead of killing the blog which someone worked hard or not on please quarantine it and let the poster know what the issue is so they can thus rectify it and edit it

As a standard user who has kicked around the internet awhile... allowing such posts could lead to the question blogs eventually dominating the blog section, discouraging other, appropriate blog content if the good stuff gets buried under it.

When the user base has been in growth, it can get kinda bad. With users asking the same tired questions like 'which postal method should I use' and 'is AmiAmi legit'.

Whilst I think it is appropriate to separate out FAQ stuff from long form content and hobby discussions, I think that the forums need an overhaul to make them more useful. Or a set of more specialist pages that are suited to asking questions with definitive answers. Maybe we could have a 'user help' section listing that sits under the blog listing, so it is visible but doesn't cause blogs to get buried by people asking simple questions.
