JJBA Exhibition Haul (+ some extras!)JJBA Exhibition Haul (+ some extras!)Loot

As many of us have experienced during this quarantine, whipping out the debit card is much too easy, and thus our tale commences...with more and more items amassing in my proxy shopping cart over the course of 3 months.

One of the most exciting prospects was an online sale of the JOJO EXHIBITION: RIPPLES OF ADVENTURE items that were sold at Osaka and Nagasaki venues in early 2020 and items that were to be originally sold at the Kanazawa venue.
I had my eyes set on many Jojo exhibition posters, most of which were very hard to come by and VERY expensive, so this online sale came as a surprise as well as the golden opportunity to snag lots of exclusive and official Jojo merch at actual retail price (rip my wallet no longer...kinda). Browsing through the 120 items they had on sale, I kept adding and adding items to my proxy cart and ultimately was successful in purchasing most of them (except for all the clear files that sell out quickly for whatever reason...).

And alas, a big box from Japan arrived at my doorstop today with treasures from my months-long shopping binge.

yes I do have a lovely little shiba

Here is a shot of most of the items wrapped beautifully and securely in what will likely cause a bubble wrap shortage later this year.

For the main event, we have the JOJO Exhibition items.

First up is a very fancy looking picture frame to put idk what in (prolly something Jojo let's be real here):

Some lovely coasters...I bought two packs and was lucky enough to not get dupes:

A nice little stamp book that you supposedly bring to temples and shrines (called "goshuinchou" in Japanese) featuring part 8 style Jotaro and Iggy (lol even now Araki has trouble drawing dogs huh JK Araki-sensei is sacred):

A deck of cards to fuel my backroom gambling addiction (ft. some really sick artwork):

A daily calendar featuring some really interesting typography and manga panel artwork! Still trying to figure out how to display such an item in a way that I can reuse it (there's no way in hell I will rip off the pages like intended):

A teacup (ooh exciting...but wait!) that changes color and design according to the temperature! I didn't bother putting in boiled water, so I didn't get the full effect, but I did observe it change back completely after cooling down - not the most inventive thing ever for a mug, but hey, it's Jojo so...:

A DIO art frame featuring well...everyone's favorite flamboyant fabulously-dressed Joestar-hating (or loving hmmm) immortal vampire. There was another option with a single frame of DIO in his glorious entirety striking a pose but it featured some prominent...bulge, which is lovely and all, but perhaps not the aesthetic I would go for wall decor, at least not at the moment:

Set of stickers based on one "decisive battle" for each part (the protruding SFX for the part 4 sticker is an eye-catching design choice):

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/09/09/2514990.jpeg

The catalogue of the exhibition's works and behind-the-scenes/making-of many of the works -- a worthy addition to my artbook collection:

One of my favorite finds was this Jotaro and Star Platinum t-shirt with color splash detailing. Most definitely will have to slim down a bit as the largest size available was a medium which doesn't necessarily correspond with a US medium, but I will be pairing this one day with my Giorno Giovanna Golden Experience bomber jacket (google: glamb Jojo jacket):

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/09/09/2514984.jpeg

A set of postcards part 2 themed; comes with a very glossy Red Stone of Aja envelope to store them in because there's no way I'll be using them as actual postcards and mail them out:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/09/09/2514973.jpeg

And lastly, what spawned this whole shopping obsession, the exhibition posters! I snagged quite a few just because (might let go a couple in the future). All posters look stunning in person, and I was really digging the art style choices for some of them, particularly the Part 5 poster (linked the items because unrolling each poster and stabilizing each corner for a photo was a pain):

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50376921667_64c3ee7a9a_o.jpg

Battle Tendency 2018
Battle Tendency 2020
Stardust Crusaders 2020
Diamond is Unbreakable 2020
Vento Aureo 2020 (rip no Fugo on poster)

So that sums up the exhibition items! I was so pleased with everything and finally having the items actually before my very eyes was a little surreal.

I also received a few other items outside the exhibition, Jojo and non-Jojo, that came with my proxy order.

I discovered Amazon Japan back in March and was able to snag a LOT of stuff because they directly ship to the US via DHL; however, some items weren't eligible, so I took a dive into starting a proxy order which amassed all you have seen here thus far and more; so I blame the next item for this loot.

Part 4 Bandai gashapon set. Had to buy this up exclusively for part 4 Jotaro. This will also hold me over for the Rohan and Josuke Nendoroid releases:

Some new additions to my artbook collection, including a Steins;Gate artbook and Yu-Gi-Oh! artbook:

MGS Raiden Nendoroid with Goodsmile bonus; the lack of a MGS4 Raiden Nendoroid upsets me greatly:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/09/09/2515040.jpeg

And possibly the coolest and most niche custom item to have...Pokémon Hanko (a stamp with your name on it used in place of signature of initials)! I ordered two, one for my first name and one for my last; I requested Gible and Cyndaquil, as they are my cutest faves. Unfortunately, they mistakenly gave me a Chimchar instead of Cyndaquil (big sad noises). The stamps are still super cool, but are smaller than expected:

don't go doxing me now

That wraps up my entire haul! Finally shipping and receiving this large proxy order was very much cathartic - this was practically a summer worth of shopping right here for me. I have no idea where I will keep a lot of this stuff, as I'm wary of hanging stuff up as I'm anticipating moving somewhat soon but just having the items on hand is well worth a bit of temporary clutter.

Thank you for reading this very lengthy post! If I have another large haul in the future, I probably will post here again. Please comment if you have any questions or comments on any of the purchases I've detailed.

Have a lovely day y'all!

So many cool bits and pieces I especially love the little gashapon collection :3
I was able to snag a few of those coasters myself too, they're really nice but don't think I could use them think ): probably better suited as display pieces!

I totally agree about the coasters -- I definitely do not need more than like 2 coasters, which I definitely already had, so display pieces for sure!

Eri-channn5 months ago#83054037I have that yugioh art book too! Mine though is a manufacturers error and all the pages were put in upsidown! It really is a lovely art book though.
Yes, I was very eager to get it -- sadly I could not find the English translated variant until it was too late. Oh well. One day maybe; the artwork is worth it alone.

dandybaby5 months ago#83000534What an amazing haul, I particularly love the coasters and the sticker set!
I've looked into the posters myself, but farrrrk they're expensive. I'd want to laminate and display them, but I don't have the wall space, so not much point.

I feel you on that. I've carried with me two boxes full of posters and some in big clip frames through like 3 moves without hanging them up because the notion of wall space optimization overwhelms me haha.
Yes, they are - I recommend looking on Japanese auction sites/apps like Mercari and/or setting alerts for the exhibition products on Mandarake (even if the chances are slim they ever get a stock in bc most of the stuff is pre-owned).

AcePlatinum5 months ago#83000178Literally, right after I saw the link, I jumped onto a proxy website and sent a buy request for some items off the jump website...Darn you for making me spend more money into the black hole that is JoJo merch (haha, jokes on me, Im already in here forever XD).

Hope you snagged some goodies! There were prolly a lot more things I would've ordered myself but I was trying to keep my sanity a check...just a little.

albell265 months ago#83000146The exhibition posters are definitely stunning; particularly the 2012 ones but those will run you over $200 a piece which is just insane. I've had the best luck looking at Mercari Japan for the 2012 ones, and even then it's still over $100 (but still cheaper than any US site). I mentioned in another comment that jump-shop online still has this exhibition sale going on; there might a couple posters/art frames left over - go check it out (the link is in a comment below).
I definitely will post here if I gather another large collection - usually my finds are 1-ofs in an order of a bunch of other stuff from Mandarake or Amazon japan. Might make a write-up of the merch I collected before this big haul - I have acquired some snazzy very niche things.
Yes, when the first thing I ever purchased from Amazon Japan was an almost $400 Jojo jacket, I knew I was in for one hell of a ride.

AcePlatinum5 months ago#82999823Holy Moly, what an amazing haul!!! :D You are seriously lucky to have been able to snag all of this sick merch! I have been trying for months now to get my hands on the JoJo Exhibition posters on Ebay, but they are either super expensive or immediately sold out! I love the aesthetic of JoJo and would like to have some of the artwork in my room. I love also the DIO frame (the Jonathan bulge is a highlight for sure (:) ) and didn't even know that existed! I also love the T-shirt, super beautiful to look at: I remember Araki doing a collab with Uniqlo and had a similar aesthetic look to it as well. If you like cards, I saw some Chifuru (?, don't know if I spelt that right, its a Japanese card game; even has an anime based on it) cards on Manda with Araki's most recent JoJo designs on it and it looked really nice, you might like them :) I hope you get more JoJo merch so you can show off JoJo merch that is hard to find! :D Thanks again for showing us all your JoJo goodies! <3

Astrocomet5 months ago#82999838I've come to find that Jojo merchandise has a nasty habit of robbing one blind. Be warned, Jojo hell is very real. In all seriousness, congratulations on all your new goodies.
