So it finally happened. I finally got my grubby little hands on my holy grail ITEM #163098
However it is my very first time doing a GK so once I managed to snag her I started to research gk tutorials.
And then it was time. (Picture heavy)

So first I took out all of the pieces to look through them all before beginning to trim the excess bits off of everything.

There were a few that I made little mistakes on (the top corner of this piece)

But it was a very easy fix once I started to sand everything.
Sanding was really satisfying even though it seemed to take forever. https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/09/28/2529769.jpeg

Then I gave them a gentle little wash, dried everything and gave it a coat of sealent!

Then I began to paint and glue stubborn pieces that wouldn’t just click together. Mostly the small blue accessories.

Then I did her eyes (had a break down or two), sealed them and then added some shading to her face, joints and hands.

And THEN I attached the final pieces which meant my holy grail and first Garage kit was complete!!
I’m so pleased with the outcome and I might want to do some more in the future!!

Thanks so much for reading my excited rambles!

barbie diva of despair!
Congrats on getting your grail! You did an amazing job on the GK!
I'm thinking about buying a GK but I wouldn't be able to build it myself, I'd love to commission you LOL

Shnakay2 months ago#84065415Yep everyone is different! She’s one of my favourite characters of all time and I’ve been hunting for this kit for a long time. Good luck finding yours, however I am very happy and continue to feel that my grail is exactly that to me.
Yep glad that you have yours!

Kotoni2 months ago#84029449Oh wow! You could have completely said you're used to GKs and I would've totally believed you! Your work on Eli is amazing!
Also congratulations on finding Eli!

Thanks so much! I think it’s mostly because it was a beginner friendly kit lol
I’m so excited to finally have her :D

AgentDrafire2 months ago#84029142Amazing! Congrats on the grail and you did an awesome job with her! Everything is so well done! What was the most annoying part of building her? Was it sanding?
Sanding was a very time consuming process but I think the worst part was actually the eye decals lol. They’re really important and it kind of feels like you have one chance and only one chance lol (there were extra eyes but STILL)

RPG_FAN1282 months ago#84017951Epic work! This definitely confirms that I am *not* an art/crafts person. Although I am quite skilled at staring at other's works of art. ^_^
Honestly I think it does take some skill but also - what’s the likeliness of reselling a gk? You’re making it for you so even if it’s not perfect you can look at it and be proud of yourself! Plus it’s fun toooo

plasticizer2 months ago#84020895Nice! Not overdoing on your first build n' paint and keeping it relatively simple really paid off. She looks absolutely fabulous!
That’s how I feel too. I think this was a very beginner friendly kit so most of the work that I think would really drive someone mad was already done for me lol
