Wow, I was supposed to do these articles regularly but it has been 2 months since my last one! Nevertheless I hope you will enjoy! And I think I can keep up the pace a more in the upcoming months!

These blogs cover figures from my collection that have been in storage for a long time due to my emigration. I also use this as an opportunity to practice with my new camera and also appreciate the items I have been owning for a longer time!

The figures we are going to look at today:

x Strike Witches 2 - Sanya V Litvyak - 1/8 - Rocket Booster ver. (Alter): ITEM #99028
x Kantai Collection ~Kan Colle~ - Hokuhou Seiki (FuRyu) ITEM #314587
x One Coin Grande Figure Collection Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters Vol. 1 ~Duel Start!~ Trading figure set ENTRY #25196 , which includes:
- Yami Yuugi: ITEM #42148
- Mutou Yuugi: ITEM #47765
- Yami Bakura: ITEM #47773
- Bakura Ryou: ITEM #47769
- Mazaki Anzu: ITEM #47771
- Honda Hiroto: ITEM #47770
- Jounouchi Katsuya: ITEM #47766
- Red Eyes Black Dragon: ITEM #47772
- Kaiba Seto: ITEM #47767
- Kaiba Mokuba: ITEM #47768

Strike Witches 2 - Sanya V Litvyak - 1/8 - Rocket Booster ver. (Alter): ITEM #99028

I originally purchased this figure in 2018 as a bundle deal (see related loot blog BLOG #41175 ) from a collector that was selling most of his Strike Witches figures. I earlier already reviewed this figure (see BLOG #42570 ), and although the figure was great, she had a lot of assembly issues, so I never managed to set her up the way I wanted to.

Maybe I will regret it in the future, but I decided to bust out the glue and blu tac and put her together in my preferred display option! Here she is in all her glory:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561969.jpeg

The gun looks so bad-ass and the coat so warm!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561970.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561971.jpeg

Dust shows so quickly on the black parts of this figure! I fully cleaned her and then had her for 3 days outside of her display cabinet for the repairs I was doing!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561972.jpeg

I like how you can see her stomach peeking out when looking underneath the coat.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561973.jpeg

If you look very closely here you can see the exact areas where the breakages were in the Magic Antenna, however it's near impossible to notice when not pointing out.

Kantai Collection ~Kan Colle~ - Hokuhou Seiki (FuRyu) ITEM #314587

I originally got this figure in 2017, where she was gifted to me in the Secret Santa of a local anime forum (see blog BLOG #40999 ). In 2019 I decided to review her (see BLOG #42406 ).

This figure had been on display for about 1,5 years before I packed her up for my emigration and there was something very noticeable when I tried to set her up again here...

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561974.jpeg

It might be a bit hard to see on the picture, but her ship parts had sagged! The one on the left now gets a lot more force from the support stand to stay up. The one on the right can't be easily fixed unless I make a support stand myself from scratch.

I guess this shows how such complicated designs as prize figures can come with downsides. Luckily it's not very noticeable with this figure unless you know how it was supposed to look like. For now I have decided to not fix up the right ship part and will monitor it over time.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561976.jpeg

Still this figure has some amazing details and I would also continue to recommend her if you keep in mind her quality as a prize!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561979.jpeg

The sculpt inside the mouth is so cool as well!

One Coin Grande Figure Collection Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters Vol. 1 ~Duel Start!~ Trading figure set ENTRY #25196

When this set was originally advertised in 2010, I went wild. I was hugely into YGO in the early 2000's and it seemed like it would never get any figures!

This set was announced before there was any indication of Kotobukiya possibly making scaleds as well, so the happy fan I was I placed my pre-order for this trading figure set, hoping it would spark more figures. In the following years Kotobukiya continued to make me happy with more releases! But for now, let's focus on the first (of the two in total) trading figure sets Kotobukiya ended up making for YGO.

Note: Because I am not fluent in Japanese and don't want to guess too much, I am skipping the translation of the text bubbles that come with the figures.

Yami Yuugi: ITEM #42148

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561981.jpeg

Let me just say I was blown away with the amount of detail on these tiny figures when I first unboxed them! How is it even possible to have detail on the Millenium Puzzle and backsides on all those cards for the size?! For reference these figures are 6CM (2.34in) high.

Mutou Yuugi: ITEM #47765

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561982.jpeg

And now for the better main character! Joking, joking. Normal Yuugi is so cute, I wish Kotobukiya would also have given us a scale of him!

Yami Bakura: ITEM #47773

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561983.jpeg

Yami Bakura possibly has the highest amount of fangirls in the franchise, but is regularly forgotten by the directors of the anime and writer of the manga.

Bakura Ryou: ITEM #47769

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561984.jpeg

I am so happy this set also gave us a Ryou! Just like Yuugi the characters are a big part of the plot, but there is always more attention for their Yami's...

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561985.jpeg

His hair is has a nice stylistic sculpt!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561986.jpeg

I forgot to mention it before, but all of these trading figures have a neckjoint, so the heads can be moved in any direction.

Mazaki Anzu: ITEM #47771

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561987.jpeg

And now for the official cheerleader, Anzu! Unfortunately my copy has a defect with some missing PVC in the sculpt of her face. Luckily this is only noticeable on pictures like this, in person it's very hard to see.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561988.jpeg

The swirly-eyed look fits her the most from the whole set!

Honda Hiroto: ITEM #47770

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561998.jpeg

Then for another support for the team who also battles himself every now and then: Honda! He looks so though!

Jounouchi Katsuya: ITEM #47766

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2561999.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562000.jpeg

And of course we can't forget: Jounouchi! I like his wide-legged pose and the shading in his hair.

Symbol of Frienship

A famous scene in the source material is the 'Symbol of Friendship', a smiley face that Anzu draws on the hands of herself, Yuugi, Honda and Jounouchi.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562001.jpeg

Incredibly cute is that if you put the bases of these four characters together, you get the symbol! Kotobukiya opted for the look the smiley has in the manga. Personally I am always a bit sad that Ryou gets forgotten as being part of their friend group here haha. The smiley does not perfectly align now because of the placement of the text bubbles, if you remove the text bubbles they will fit.

Over time some of my text bubbles snapped or sagged, so most of the figures have at least one of the bubbles glued down which is why I can't remove them for pictures like this. If you are reading this and thinking about buying this set: Don't worry, this was mostly caused by myself as I made the mistake of not properly packing these figures the first time I moved them to a new home.

Red Eyes Black Dragon: ITEM #47772

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562002.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562003.jpeg

The card mostly associated with Jounouchi: Red Eyes Black Dragon! And wow, is he cute in chibi form! And spikey!

Kaiba Seto: ITEM #47767

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562004.jpeg

Make way for Seto! Even as a mini chibi figure he looks serious and down to business! I love all the tiny details, from his duel disk to the KC on his belt.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562005.jpeg

Great shading on his hair here as well! And also another reminder of these figures being only 6CM (2.34in) in total size. So small errors like the asymmetrical card back is almost impossible to see in person.

Kaiba Mokuba: ITEM #47768

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562006.jpeg

Last but not least, the cutest little brother: Mokuba!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562007.jpeg

What a little grump! And great hair shading also here!

Kaiba Brothers

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562008.jpeg

You can put the bases of both of the Kaiba Brothers together to see the Kaiba Corporation logo. If you don't display them with the text bubbles, the bases are a better fit.

In general about those text bubbles, I am mixed about them. I do display the figures with them because I think they make the figures more unique. However, they take up a lot more display space this way!

All together now!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562029.jpeg

Overall this is just a great set if you want all of the main characters from the early Duel Monster series.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562019.jpeg

The Yuugi's!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562020.jpeg

The Bakura's!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562021.jpeg

The supporters!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562027.jpeg

The fighter with his dragon!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562028.jpeg

The brothers!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/15/2562030.jpeg

They look so great together! Even after owning them for almost 10 years now and having multiple scales of this franchise, I wouldn't think of letting them go!

And to finish it!

For those who read all this way, thank you! My next blog will probably be a figure review, but might be another entry for this blog type!

victorviper8 months ago#86700782The thing that has always stopped me from buying the Alter Sanya is that I like Sanya 1.0 just fine, and I was kind of disappointed they didn't make a winter coat Eila to go with her.

I guess it's only if you are completionist. This one came earlier on my path to buy for a good price. I doubt how soon (or if at all) I would buy the 1.0 Sanya.

AcePlatinum8 months ago#86701000Unfortunately, GSC doesn't treat older shows with the same interest as newer ones. Plus I still see Atem/Yugi being sold everywhere so I am afraid that because he didn't sell as well as some other nendos and therefore GSC may be inclined to not put out more Yugiho nendos :( At least I would like to see Seto, Joey, and Marik or Bakura come to life. If not, I may opt for your figures as they are cute~

It might also be the Cu-Poche Koto had been releasing way earlier, making the excitement for the Nendoroid lower? I think they produced too many for him indeed because I see him in stock for around his release price at a lot of places, at least he didn't bargain bin, though?

The figures from this blog still seem to sell for around their release price. So they shouldn't be too hard to pick up. Typing this I am realizing that I guess only the YGO scaleds were really succesfull figures. ^^''

Maakie8 months ago#86700357Yes, all of them have their personality shining through even though I remember a lot of people initially not being that happy about the 'swirly eyes' the figures would be having. Luckily this set proved it could turn out well! :)
And wow! The whole cast! I have no clue how well Yuugi sold, it's more than a year since his release, and no new announcements yet as far as I know. :(
