Hello MFC! And welcome to another blog in my collection series! These blogs cover figures from my collection that have been in storage for a long time due to my emigration. I also use this as an opportunity to practice with my new camera and also appreciate the items I have been owning for a longer time!

The figures we are going to look at today:

- Mecha Musume - Fumikane Shimada Collection ENTRY #23362 :

- Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters - One Coin Figure Series - Duel King!! (Kotobukiya) browse.v4.php?v...

Mecha Musume - Fumikane Shimada Collection ENTRY #23362

German Panzer II Mechanized Infantry - 1/10 - African War ver. (Beagle, Moon Toys) ITEM #68915

In 2011 there was quite a surprise when Beagle/Moon Toys decided to continue in the Fumikane Shimada Collection ENTRY #23362 line after a break of more than 3 years. I wasn't complaining though! I love these character designs and having them as scaled figures is even better than the earlier released trading figure sets! So I decided to pre-order the 2 new announced ones back then.

Beagle ENTRY #10041 and Moon Toys ENTRY #7978 are quite strange and short lived manufacturers. Moon Toys their most famous figure is this one from Murata Range ITEM #72885 . As for Beagle, they seemed to have made figures for 5 years, of which most of them were based on Murata Range's art as well. The two figures I'll show here today were the last 2 releases made by Beagle and the last prepainted releases made by Moon Toys.

All figures in this set come with multiple display options: Normal legs or tank legs, with or without hat, and different positions for the right arm. This gives you quite some display options.

I remember being very impressed with her quality when I originally got her and she has survived the test of time!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571564.jpeg

If you're not into the whole Mecha Musume, but do like cute girls in uniforms, this is still a recommended buy!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571565.jpeg

Her shoes are super shiny!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571566.jpeg

There are lots of hidden details, such as this ammo in her side-shield.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571567.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571570.jpeg

I really love Mecha Musume though, so this is how I display her.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571571.jpeg

I like the exhausts on the back and the smooth transition from upper legs to the mecha legs.

German Panzer II Mechanized Infantry - 1/10 - European War ver. (Beagle, Moon Toys) ITEM #68914

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571572.jpeg

The expression Europe has is very cute!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571573.jpeg

The bases for both of these are a dust magnet! I only had them out of the display cabinet for 3 days when setting up for these pictures!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571574.jpeg

I love the chest armor and the shorts. In general I'm a short shorts lover and with these figures it's nice to see some designs in the franchise that aren't easily flashing their panties.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571575.jpeg

There is a lot of detail in the hair sculpt.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571576.jpeg

She looks super cool fully set up!

You do notice how with both of these figures a big part of the main sculpt was re-used. Considering their decent price for the size and release date it's acceptable. Still it would have been nice if there were a bit more differences between the figures.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571577.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571578.jpeg

The details on the gun are very good!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571580.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571581.jpeg

Great details and shading on the legs again as well!

- Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters - One Coin Figure Series - Duel King!! (Kotobukiya) browse.v4.php?v...

As mentioned in the earlier articles in which I covered the YGO Vol. 1 ~Duel Start!~ BLOG #47027 and YGO Vol. 2 ~Ancient Duel~ BLOG #47080 sets, the only one left for me to cover was the Duel King!! browse.v4.php?v... . A special bundle that combined alternative versions of the Yami Yuugi ITEM #42148 and Seto Kaiba ITEM #47767 figures from the first set. Even though MFC lists them as a 'standard' release, I'm pretty sure they were limited and possibly exclusive as well.

Because these figures were so hard to get and looks-wise very similar to the other ones I already owned in the set, I decided to skip them during the time pre-orders were open. How I eventually ended up getting them was quite an interesting story. A couple of months after I skipped the pre-order, the now-defunct webshop Otacute had a papercraft photography competition. You had to print and build a papercraft of their mascot and make a creative picture with it. I think Otacute overestimated the amount of people that would be joining, as about half of the applicants ended up winning something. It was quite a time-consuming competition to enter: Not only making the papercraft was multiple hours of work, you needed a good idea for the photograph as well. You were allowed two entries and one of my entries PICTURE #386344 ended up winning the 'Silver' prize, which if I remember correctly, was a $30 or $35 coupon for their store. I browsed their in-stock items and saw the Duel King!! set being offered for exactly the value of my won coupon. It was then an easy decision for me to select this prize. I do remember feeling a bit guilty when Otacute closed down later, I think it was less than a year after the competition. I wonder if people still remember this store.

Yami Yuugi ITEM #83578

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571582.jpeg

Without further ado, here is Duel King Yami Yuugi! Like all others in these sets, this tiny figure looks great. His expression is so fierce!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571583.jpeg

His jacket is very shiny!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571584.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571585.jpeg

Kaiba Seto ITEM #83579

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571586.jpeg

My copy of Duel King Kaiba has a small painting defect at his eye, which I actually did not notice in person. These pictures can enhance a lot more than my eyes can see.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571587.jpeg

I love the evil laugh on his face with the accompanying 'ha ha ha' text bubble!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571588.jpeg

Even the little leg straps are there!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571589.jpeg

And now! The battle for the real Duel King!!

Bonus

While I have been unboxing and photographing all these figures, I have also been working on setting up my new collection room. As quite a lot of work and thinking has been going into this, I am saving the pictures of the full set-up for a more detailed blog later. But for now I wanted to show the current look!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571590.jpeg

Here is the full One Coin set displayed together!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571591.jpeg

I'm always doubting if I should remove the text bubbles to make it look less messy, but they make the figures so unique!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571592.jpeg

The Mecha Musume figures from this blog together with the trading figures I unpacked in my earlier blog BLOG #47079 .

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/11/29/2571593.jpeg

And here is all of the figures I have been covering in reviews and blogs these last few months please don't mind the fallen lights on the right. This is the front wall, there is going to be a similar wall on the right.

As you can see from the high pile of boxes on the left, there is still a lot to unpack and talk about. I'm looking forward to it!

And to finish it!

For those who read all this way, thank you! My next blog will probably be another entry for this blog type!

I hope you enjoyed this blog, you could also check my other ones when interested! As promised, for every new blog I would fix the image hosting of an older blog. I decided to fix up an earlier 2-parter loot and make it one article:
BIG Loot with mini reviews - Chrono Crusade, Baccano! and more: BLOG #40389
If you also have any you would like me to fix, let me know!

Maakie1 month ago#87643977I haven't really watched their aftermarket, but I do casually browse Mecha Musume items every now and then and haven't come across them in a while indeed! Same for the Toranoana ones except for ITEM #4714 sometimes. Makes me wonder if people are holding on to them or if they might not be interesting anymore to buy second hand by the big shops?
Going to be brutally honest: no. ^^'' Koto really made it their focus shortly after these sets to continue with YGO scaled figures only. Nowadays the scaled line also has seemingly died out except for re-releases. On top of that, trading figures nowadays are a lot less popular compared to prepainted and prizes.
I want to believe, but I really don't expect Koto to create more YGO trading figures. :( I would buy them if they do, though!

victorviper1 month ago#87604066Those Beagle Shimada figures seem like they are getting hard to find these days. Even the Toranoana figures like ITEM #4716 which were once quite common seem don't seem to be circulating around too much these days.
