So a couple of firsts happened for me yesterday evening.
One: I received my first figure from Amazon JP. I had always been too intimidated to order from there but decided to throw my worries to the wayside when I couldn't find ITEM #198350 being sold anywhere else for a decent price. I found her for ¥8,571 by a seller with a 95% satisfaction rating. 95% is pushing it for me but all the other sellers had even worse ratings. So I decided, hey, let's gamble. International shipping with Amazon Japan is a decent ¥1,614, so I figured I wasn't getting a bad deal here considering Rin's usual aftermarket prices. I bought her and thus the waiting began.
Fast forward a couple of days later and I was informed my shipment would be handled by DHL. Made sense seeing as I am in the states. Plus, that would mean faster delivery for me! I expected no problems.
Then came First number two. I get my package and not only is the packaging not to my liking, it's banged the hell up! There was even a small hole in it. Now I've received a banged up package before, a lesson I learned pretty early in my collecting career. For example, the first and last time I shipped an AmiAmi order through SAL:

What I never received was a package labeled "Repackaged". So I'm guessing this wasn't the original packaging I was even seeing? Or maybe they just taped the parcel up more securely because Amazon did not? I honestly don't know.

(Note: the rip up top was my own doing to get Rin out of there. But as you can see, the package is still not in a desirable state nor is it the proper packaging you'd use to ship a figure).
My third First was having my figure box be completely ruined thanks to shipping. I'm pretty sure the box didn't look like this before since it was labeled as brand new, undamaged, and the nendo itself was mint in box. Excuse the paint and marks on my work desk:

Luckily, I don't really care for figure boxes unless they really catch my eye. And if you've seen one nendo box, you've seen them all. Okay not all, but at least 90% of them. Rin Tohsaka, despite being best girl in Fate/Stay Night, comes in a pretty standard, old school nendoroid box. It's a shame it was ruined though, especially seeing as it was brand new. RIP resale value.
But thankfully the little lass herself came out just fine and she wasn't a bootleg! No damages on the figure whatsoever. I'm just happy she came out unscathed. I'm glad I got over my fear and ordered her through a leap of faith!

Thanks for taking the time to read this diary entry of mine. I will hopefully be posting a last year loot article soon. I also have another project in the works that I'll reveal soon~ Until then, take care!

Regarding the picture that you posted of the time when you tried SAL with AmiAmi, I actually had a similar situation happen to me a while back, check out these pictures on my Google Photo Album: photos.app.goo....
Sorry to also read DHL mishandled your own things too. They need to handle these packages better. :/
Oh well, it is what it is.
And luckily for my friend, the figure was fine, but the box was mangled beyond repair.

Late response but WOW, that is bad! How upsetting that must have been.

DHL has roughed up a few of my parcels, but nothing quite that bad. I'm glad your figure was safe, but damn I'd be pissed if I got a parcel that messed up. The worst I had was a big hole in the bottom of a parcel that messed up a scale box, thankfully it didn't damage the figure and the box wasn't completely destroyed.

Regardless, it's pretty awesome she came out of that whole situation undamaged!
I can't wait for your next article! You can never have enough Nendoroids xD I love Saber too! She's like, a very close second for me.
And yeah, nendos are just so damn addicting. My future loot article is just featuring them.
Eri-channn • 1 month ago • #88090649I started using AmazonJP back at the start of the pandemic to try and get my hands (and being successful) on a Hina and Hodaka from Weathering With you (I became a fan wayy late). My first package with Hina went super smooth, no damage no rough and tumble nothing, but Hodaka came a but more roughed up. Thankfully it didn't transfer to the inside box since those boxes are freakin stunning but it was still a bit disheartening. The ONLY time I got a messed up figure box was my BOTW Zelda nendoroid preorder from Tokyo Otaku Mode. The box AND her box came really messed up but she was fine inside. Still, glad Rin is okay! I'm sorry about your BOTW Zelda but I'm glad she came out fine as well. I'm glad Amazon JP at least has the figures we discover too late haha I definitely took my sweet time before watching Fate.
