Well after being stuck at home for a long while and then Winter Weather hitting and not just 1 Winter Storm but 3 Hitting all in the same week it's gotten to where I've GOT TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE or I'll go crazy.

You're probably wondering what this has to do with collecting and why talk about it on this site it's getting to where the Collecting Hobby has been what's kept me Sane because it's always nice to have something new to look forward too and I've been tempted to get started on assembling some of the Gundam Models that are here but finding that I need to get out of the house more even with the Pandemic I need to get out to do something at the end of this month and hopefully we won't have more snow.

With the Winter Storms Shutting everything down around here and the Snow making it to where it's difficult to get out of the Driveway I'm stuck at home for a little while longer till the Snow starts melting.

The other day had our first clear sky in a few days and hopefully things will start thawing out by the middle of next week.

Just feels like I could go a little crazy from being stuck at Home from the Weather and with other things that can drive me crazy well I don't want to end up going off the deep end from being stuck at home.

Whenever I think about going crazy I think about this guy:

I was going to be getting ITEM #946016 this week along with the Transformers Studio Series 86 Leader Class Grimlock, Star Wars Mission Series X-Wing, ITEM #947472 and the Batman Batmissile Batmobile but because USPS has been unable to deliver and things are still in Transit that have been affected by the Winter Storms elsewhere a few Tracking Updates showed winter weather delays in other states so I'm trying to keep myself from wanting to get a few more things because by this time I'd have the first of what was picked up and wouldn't think about getting anything else.

Still waiting for some Amazon Orders and some Figures from Amazon and DVDs too but with everything getting shut down here it's starting to make me a little crazy in terms of wanting things but with all that's coming in reminding me of that helps to suppress that urge.

Fending off the temptation to get ITEM #899482 but gotta let everything else come in and with this week passing by quickly I'm eager for things to get to where can get out of this house and feels like I want to go to the Casinos down in Tunica just to do something [I have a set limit for Gambling folks and that's $100 and I stick to the Slot Machines] would be nice to do some other things but there isn't a lot here to go do and checking the usual stores that I do check locally is on my list of things to do but that can wait till next month but I am TEMPTED to get out as soon as things melt and it gets to where I can get out again.

Thank Goodness I've got a huge collection here and that's helped me to avoid going crazy from being stuck at home all the time.

It's times like this that a large collection like this is a great thing to have.

Still got plenty of Anime here to watch and that should keep me occupied for the rest of the week plus picked up the Sacred Blacksmith series on DVD for less than $10 but that won't be in till the end of the month so right now the objective is talking myself out of wanting to get anything else and at least I'm still excited for getting Black Cat and the Huntress so that excitement is helping to keep my mind off things.

It's nice to be excited for a few things that are coming in and next week should have the Ghostbusters Ecto 1 in the collection and next week is looking to be a great week for getting things in mail and I need to watch more Anime this weekend to get through my backlog so need to start watching Turn A Gundam this weekend.

Not sure about you folks how you handle Stir Craziness and Cabin Fever but finding that Collecting really helps to keep my mind off things like that and it's worked very well to keep me from flipping out.

At least looking around at the collection here makes me glad that this room as it is has helped to keep me from going crazy over the last few years, with this winter weather hitting I'm glad there's a large collection of Games, Anime,Comics, DVDs, Books, and a few Model Kits here I should assemble one of the SD Gundam Kits here this weekend if I'm not sleeping all day and that's another thing this weather has done it's made me spend more time sleeping.

Not sure how you folks handle Stir Craziness or Cabin Fever but with the Pandemic and now Winter Weather keeping me home it's getting to where gotta get out of the house or I'll be climbing the walls at least getting outside helps but now with the Snow and Cold Temps can't do that much till things thaw out and it gets warmer.

How often do you deal with Cabin Fever?

Does the hobby help you handle things like Cabin Fever/Stir Craziness?

RPG_FAN12813 days ago#92531535Yeah same here, where I live even store owners have stopped wearing masks and everything. And just 2 weeks ago I was visiting with some friends who have lived in Panama for several years. They explained how it's EXTREMELY restrictive and only men can go out on certain days (like Monday and Wednesday but honestly I can't remember exactly which days) and only women can go out other days. Furthermore the TIMES you can go is also very restrictive and dependent on your government card or something. Evidently it's also illegal to 'go to the beach' even for beach front property... With all this I sarcastically asked "With that many restrictions are there zero cases?" No? Oops! Doesn't look like it's working then does it?
You make some great points about investing your time in hobbies old/new. There is an infinitely amount of things to do, and my problem is that I have waaaaay too many likes/hobbies/interests. This month I am trying to watch 1 movie every day from my movie backlog. And goodness, the month is already 2/3 over!

With this month almost over I'm glad that we don't have anymore snow in the forecast and it's just going to be cold.

Gotta get on my Anime Backlog since I've got plenty of series to watch.

It honestly still stumps that some people are still on lockdown. I genuinely forget that that's (unfortunately) still happening to people around the world. Tbh being stuck on lockdown and having all that free time sounds like a great opportunity to get stuff done that you've been putting off or try to get into a new hobby or something that you just weren't sure about. Got a huge backlog of games? Get on it. Ran by Netflix and skipped over that one show again you always skip while telling yourself some other time? Well how about now? Been meaning to practice your drawing skills or start a brand new hobby? You've got lots of free time now.

This could be a great opportunity to explore some new passions or revisit old ones while you're in a state of stimulating entertainment starvation. Me? I've got about 19 games I haven't beaten or started on my backlog that I've been taking down one by one. As for figures helping me personally with Cabin Fever... well I don't really see how they could. Once you order them you're stuck on that waiting period for them to get delivered to you and sitting around waiting for your figure to arrive doesn't really sound mentally stimulating to me. I haven't received a figure since... I think last October and have to wait until later this month for me to finally get another one since then. If I'd actually been waiting hand over foot for the figures during that 4 month hiatus then I'd probably have gone crazy way before now.

I'm very used to being alone and at home for days on end, so the pandemic has had almost no effect on how I'm used to living. Naturally, I've come up with ways of coping, mainly by immersing myself in my hobbies and following routines, e.g. walking the dog. Luckily, the pandemic and weather in my area hasn't completely stopped me from leaving home.

The hobby has for sure helped retain some of my sanity during the pandemic lol especially the having something coming in the mail part of it, its like getting a gift to unwrap anytime a new figure comes home. It's been a bit dangerous for my wallet though, so I've been trying to cut down on how much time I browse shops.

I've also been rearranging and moving my collection around so that puts in the time.

Here in Canada I'm used to the cold weather so I've gotten into the habit of going for walks when I need a break from the house (I live in a really rural area so the chances of running into other people is slim).

I totally use collecting and selling figures a coping mechanism lol. I spend a lot of time on E-bay just looking at new stuff daily.

I am fortunate to live in an area not hit by any of the winter storms. I do not envy having all the cold and snow to deal with on top of everything else. Stay safe!
