Today, we'll be reviewing a very niche figure from a company whose name can elicit strong sentiments both good and bad, Insight's Suehiro-chan. Her skintight outfit means that some of the shots in this review could be considered NSFW.
About the character/figure: Suehiro is an original character who has appeared in a number of different figures made by Insight ENTRY #127192, one of the many, many subsidiaries of B'Full ENTRY #8096.
This figure was originally sold directly from Insight/B'Full using a lottery system. Customers ordering the figure received either this figure or one of 4 rarer color variants as seen below (picture uploaded to MFC by user BadWolfVindici BADWOLFVINDICI)
Additionally, Suehiro has been the subject of two other Insight figures ITEM #826465 and ITEM #877491, both of which in typical Insight style have a number of variants including large and small breast versions.
I bought my figure from an eBay seller who had gotten rid of the figure box, and most of these figures that I have seen for sale have not included the original box. This is because of two reasons - one, the box is rather plain; it is just a plain white box with the character's name, and two, the original packaging is not very good. B'Full/Insight/FOTS has been notorious for subpar packaging, and for this figure Suehiro is protected only by some foam cushioning and a little bubble wrap.
When I briefly mentioned this figure in a recent loot post, MFC user Tharglet was kind enough to provide some photos of the original packing if you want to see what this looked like.

Also, apparently I ended up with a base that was mismatched to the figure, either by the seller from whom I bought the figure or Insight, so no base today. Fortunately, with her kneeling pose, she does not need a base anyway.
This figure gives Suehiro-chan a simple kneeling pose, and so let's take a look at her.
It's not a flashy pose, but it works well enough. Do notice that because of the way her bangs hang in her face, the bangs will significantly hide her face from certain angles.
B'Full/Insight/Pulchra are often criticized but I found the overall quality of this figure to be surprisingly decent. My main concerns stem from the use of 3D printed materials; more on that in a moment.
I really like the design of Suehiro's cute face, as her very cute appearance is a good match for the angel theme of the figure. In all of the Insight figures of this character, she is depicted as a catgirl, and the cat ears add to her cuteness.
Here's the first instance of issues with the 3D printed material. If you look closely, you can see those little horizontal ridges in her hair which I assume are artifacts of the 3D printing process. Also, the material used for her hair is verrrrry brittle, and I was a little mortified to handle her any more than necessary. In particular, I can easily imagine her ahoge getting broken.
I like the headdress she is wearing, as it's kind of a mashup of a cross and a halo. It's quite abstract but at the same time it clearly references her angelic nature.
The tips of her hair are really quite nicely sculpted, as they are not clumpy in any way. However, you can more 3D printing artifacts there in her hair. Additionally, her wings are separate pieces, and as you can see the wings wanted to work themselves loose just when I was moving her around to take these photos. Therefore, you'll want to be very careful when moving her around. Also, in some of the photos, you might notice little white spots in her hair; those are not painting flaws, rather I wiped her down with a paper towel before taking these photos (the shiny black suit shows every speck of dust!), and the texture of her hair is quite rough, resulting in some little bits of paper towel left behind...
There are a couple of interesting things in the photo below. I like the high-necked design of her bodysuit, and the gold collar with the hasp is quite intricate, and the collar gives a little bit of a bondage vibe to the figure's design.
A key element of this figure is the skintight bodysuit which draws attention to her large breasts. The other Insight Suehiro figures have large or small breast options, but interestingly this figure has only a single breast size option. Because the suit is shiny and skintight, I assume it would be made of latex.
The latex suit combined with the collar combined with her cute face and angel features makes for a very interesting design IMO - a cute angel girl in bondage.
Note all the various sculpted in patterns on the bodysuit. Those are interesting details.
The sculpt of the zipper is pretty good, although the painting of the zipper could be better. The zipper's width is distinctly narrower/wider in various spots.
Her gold boots/greaves are very interesting with the intricate patterns on there. The gold boots give her almost an avian feel.
It is worth noting that Suehiro is feather-light, and many items from B'Full which are made from PVC-L and PMMA and 3D printed are very hollow inside (as can be seen here PICTURE #2335793 don't click if the sight of shattered figures bothers you!), and I suspect Suehiro is probably mostly hollow. Aside from the increased risk of breakage, I've seen comments about the hollow material bending/deforming over time, and I hope that large gap between her boot and the rest of her leg is not an early symptom of this...
Note how the zipper on the bodysuit extends all the way to the back of her outfit; that is a nice detail. Also her suit has more of those little inlays on her butt cheeks :).
The sculpting on the bottom of her shoe is very detailed!
I like how Insight handled the wings. They are clear in spots, but more opaque in others, particularly near the tips. I like all the texture on there as well.
Insight lists Suehiro at 1/7 scale, and that scale is...shall we say quite generous. With her sitting pose, she measures just under 4 inches (10 cm) in height at her tallest point, and we'll see in a moment how this translates into an actual scale.
Two cute catgirls :). I assume that Suehiro and Kobato Hasegawa are not too different in stature, and Max Factory's Kobato ITEM #98882 is a very large 1/7 scale (probably more like 1/6.5). In any event, you can see that Kobato is much larger.
I'd also assume that Suehiro and Wendy Garret are similar in height, and Max Factory's Wendy ITEM #418 is 1/8 scale. Therefore, I would say that Suehiro's true scale is either a smallish 1/8 or a large 1/9.
If you are wondering where the fluffy rug I used in these photos came from, I borrowed it from Kotobukiya's Kasumi Yashiro ITEM #166169. Kasumi is a petite girl, and that figure is 1/6 scale for comparison.
Overall verdict and enjoyment----------9/10
Arguments for: I think the theme (cute and innocent angel catgirl in latex bondage suit) is quite a clever one and it hits many of my moe points, and there are some really nice details (the wings, the sculpt of the collar, and some of the details on her shiny black bodysuit).
Arguments against: Tiny scale, substandard packaging, some quirks in finish presumably because of the 3D printed material, the PVC-L material seems precariously fragile and I wonder if the material will begin to warp/deform long term.
All in all, this is a figure where the whole IMO is greater than the sum of the parts, and despite some flaws and QC concerns, Insight has produced a very interesting figure here, and I am glad that I bought her.
Availability (as of this writing)
Presumably because this figure was distributed lottery-style direct from the manufacturer (and possibly because it is such a fragile figure) this is not one of those items you will find every time you scan the preowned sites, and only 12 people on MFC claim to own either this figure or one of the rarer color variants. As I write this, Mandarake has one of the (R) rarity ones listed for 7500 yen, but with uncommon items like this one, prices can vary drastically. I found this one on eBay for 50 bucks, and at that price it was worth rolling the dice that she would arrive at my doorstep intact, and at that price I'm quite happy with my purchase.
