My mystery box from GSC came in and it sure is a mystery, because I have no idea who anyone here is.

Items are as follows:

ITEM #712373

ITEM #886632

ITEM #892294

and a Final Fantasy VII Advent Children luggage strap that I couldn't find on the site.

All in all they're pretty neat, but I don't think the advertised $120 SRP is there, and I'm a bit bummed they're not any characters I recognize. Ah well, that's what happens when you buy a blind box!

EDIT: I am not unhappy with my decision to purchase this box. Would it have been cool to get characters from shows I recognize? Obviously. Would it have been nicer to get more financially valuable things, like maybe a bigger plush or a non-prize figure? I mean duh. But I am glad I ordered this, and I can always resell the stuff to someone who will enjoy it more than me.

This is their partner products box, so it's not going to be GSC's own manufactured goods.

Demigod_Dan7 months ago#95580842Never understood the appeal of these nor do I understand people falling for 'sales'. The only time when a surprise loot box made sense to me was when Walmart had those Pokemon mystery power boxes or w/e containing 5 older series boosters of which at least 1 WOTC and maybe a 1st edition pack.
So unless this GSC 'lucky' box had a similar gimmick it literally translates to "Yo we got all this stock left that'll be hard to sell, lets make a 'mystery' out of it, label it as mystery / lucky to make it seem as if people can get truly 'worth' stuff out of em so we can charge a premium price for it instead of cutting losses". Basically getting ripped off consensually, lol. If companies do it it's ok but if a fellow person much more strapped for money does it...oh dear, all hell breaks loose then xD

I didn't "fall" for anything lmao, I bought a mystery box which I knew going in was going to contain random assorted goods. If you read my post, I literally said that the only thing I'm bummed out about is not recognizing the characters, which is in no way GSC's fault.

Also those Mystery Power Boxes you mentioned are literally the exact same "scam"; they're third party repacks of stuff they couldn't otherwise sell, they're just more appealing to you because they're something you personally enjoy.

i understand where you're coming from, but the element of surprise, opening something to see if you got super lucky or if you burned your money is the sole reason why mystery and loot boxes are popular. :') these mystery/loot boxes aren't meant for people who are tight on money after all; i'm quite sure peeps who buys them know full well the possibility of getting absolutely nothing of interest.

and even thought i am not really a fan of these things unless they have a certain theme to them (say, goodies mystery box related to just one specified anime) i get the feeling of opening a package of stuff not knowing whats in it! i'd like to imagine it's like getting a gift from your normie friend who doesn't really get your interest, maybe they found you something really cool or maybe its a naruto headband from wish dot com

Yeah... this isn't worth $120 sadly. Mystery boxes are risky fun but I would expect better value from GSC. I saw some people get really lucky with the Nendoroid and Figma packs so I don't know what happened here, I may even consider contacting them to mention that you feel like you didn't get the advertised value? They may compensate you since I don't think they can pass this off as $120.

A real spread of interesting items. Definitely have to agree on the price statement tho, I can't see this being $120. Each of the prizes likely retailed at about $20, and the strap was $27.99 SRP. I cant see the nesoberi taking up the remaining $50. I guess its "close" if you consider their retail prices, but definitely far from prices you'd pay or secondary market prices.

At the very least tho, I hope one of them garnered your interest into one of the four franchises! You've got 2 music based ones, obligatory "Fate" franchise, and FF VII, which the new game is all the rage.
