Paint Transfer, Chipping, Broken Pieces and More! Any Advice?Paint Transfer, Chipping, Broken Pieces and More! Any Advice?Ask MFC

So I recently bought this figure, ITEM #464652, used off of ebay for $130 including shipping. The figure looked great in the photos but when it arrived...
The issue was with how it was packaged; both figures bubble-wrapped together. So lots of paint transfer happened (there was only half the blister which I knew about) as well as some deep scratches.

I was able to get a partial refund of about $70 so in the end the figure was quite cheap but now I have some problems. I was also able to get most of the paint transfer off, thank you magic eraser, albeit some of the original paint got off in the process. Still, it is better than before! (Also don't judge my janky display case I still need to replace the back of it and I kinda just threw some fairy lights in there)

The main problems are the paint chips and the hoodie straps. I have one of the hoodie straps but the other one just vanished I have no clue where it went. If any of you have any suggestions on how to make a new one (with clay idk) please let me know. Also any info on how to paint over those paint chips would be useful as well! Also to all you sellers out there please individually wrap your figures, this hurts you financially and me emotionally T-T

CHRIST... I own this figure (birthday present from my wife) and I cherish it for many reasons. I would be PISSED if I paid 100+ for it and it came like THAT. I'm glad you were able to remove the paint transfer but feel so hurt for you over the other damages :( i hope you're able to repair it in the future, it looks very good for what it's worth!! <3

Auri10 days ago#95981832Try the goodsmile guide linked by warmkaito for the scuffs, for the straps you might want to look for some jewelry wire, it should be thin enough to bend into shape and be the proper size while keeping the shape. If it had the little knots at the end I would just make them out of hot glue or clay and then paint them. To put the straps on securely I would use a pin vice drill to make a little hole to push the wire inside the hoodies collar if there's no proper holes. As the pin vice drill is handheld, if you go slow and steady everything should be fine!
Good idea using the wire I'll try that out! Hopefully it works out thanks!

Thank you! It doesn't look too bad behind glass but you can definitely tell up close. I'll check it out but I kinda don't want to shell out money to fix just 1 figure.
warmkaito10 days ago#95981781the state they were in really hurts to look at T_T it's a shame they were packaged that way... as for the chips, i'm not sure if this guide will help at all, but it's what comes to mind first for me! i have no experience with replacing the hoodie strings though, but i wish you the best of luck!!
(also my display looks very much the same right now, with fairy lights kinda janky taped up ww)

for paint transfer I've always used magic erasers personally. When I bought ITEM #464858 off another mfc member it was new in box but when I received it the top piece had been rubbing against the figure for awhile and there were just black smudges and marks all over her bust. The magic eraser got rid of everything so hey its worth a shot but this looks kinda rough.

edit: I missed the part where you used the magic eraser already lmao my b

Oooooof, those scuffs are painful to look at :(
But if you're interested in some touch-up, I'd be willing to help you with airbrushing and buffing off the paint transfers. I paint garage kits so I'm quite experienced with touch-up and fixing small problems... plus I know how to package things well ;) Send me a message if you're interested!
