Whats that one anime that lots of other people say is bad or hate on but you think they have the wrong idea of?

Hi guys for me i dropped SAO a bunch of times mostly because i heard from my sisters friend(s) oh SAO sucked, not interesting etc. Oddly enough SAO was one of my favorites, i got to episode 15 tho and then stopped for the longest time.. i then ended up watching 1 or 2 episodes of almost 40 different series

But since picking up a discounted asuna blue ver figma with another purchase, i realized dangit she was an awesome waifu and kirito was pretty cool too. Whoops, i let other peoples thoughts on it influence my decision on it

Sorry just a random post luls. Going to continue SAO and just wanted to ask looks like ill be skipping gun gale online tho since i didnt feel comfortable watching it..

But yes other things that i didnt watch till way later include: one piece and high school dxd lols(friends in school didnt think highly of either). In process with DXD. Also getting back into reading manga, for a while i hated reading manga because it felt so time consuming but I appreciate it much more.

I am reading RWBY, kimi no ga todake, high school debut. Facepalm i should have finished these months ago

Anyway have a nice afternoon :)

I learnt this lesson as a kid pretty young, when I made an active decision to completely quit reading game reviews. My life has honestly been greatly enriched by this decision.

Though I enjoy it, I don't think SAO is amazing or anything, but it's absolutely not as bad as everyone says either. But honestly, that's just going to happen with anything as big/well-known as SAO is. It's never going to live up to what either side are saying about it.

I think it's generally unfair to comment on SAO as a whole, since imo the quality is so variable. When it's good it's REALLY GOOD and when it's bad it's REALLY BAD.

My little spiel about it is that the first arc was incredible--I remember watching when it first came out and I liked it so much that ITEM #166904 was one of my first figures. But then the second arc's treatment of Asuna made me drop it for years. When I came back, I thought Mother's Rosario was absolutely amazing, and GGO was entertaining but nothing to write home about. (But I adore GGO Alternative--I have a Llenn cosplay that I do and everything.)

And then Alicization has been, in my opinion, laughably bad. I keep thinking about that fight with the mirror/light sword lady? "I have to constantly state that I don't care what men think of me, even though the Administrator is a woman, there are other female Integrity knights who haven't mentioned anything about sexism!" "Oh yeah!? Well if you don't care what men think about you, then why are you wearing LIPSTICK!??!?" "OH NO, I'VE BEEN FOUND OUT!!!"

Or in the season after that, how all of these strong female warriors gather on the eve of the a massive battle...to stay up all night trading stories about how much they love Kirito? I might watch the new season, but I'd just really just be hatewatching it at this point and idk if I'm in the mood.

I'll definitely tune in again once they move on to something else, though.

also, just speaking to this: figuresuki8 days ago#96060386Amazingly a lot of those that say that they hate it have watched an awfully large number of epsodes. If I can't get into something then usually by episode 2 I give up, I don't watch 20 odd episodes before I decide it's not for me. I totally get giving up on something early on because you just don't care for it. But imo, if someone is going to say that they "hate" something and complain at any length about it, then I feel like they should at least have a reason for it? That is, if someone said they hated a series I liked, but they'd only watched the first two episodes, I'd kinda be like, "well, you don't really have any authority on the subject, now do you?" But if someone had watched the whole thing and was able to explain, "well, here are the problems I have with it," then I'm interested in hearing that opinion.

I think we should all form our opinions and judgements based on our own experiences and not by what other people are saying.

I have enjoyed watching SAO including Gun Gale online series as well, also my partner that is not really into Anime enjoyed watching it with me also but I did have people I know telling me it was rubbish for this reason or that and that there is all sorts of videos on youtube telling people what's wrong with it and why you should not like it. So if I like it why should I care what others think of it, why should we like the same things.

Likely there is a controversy around it where it's popular so people have to hate on it to try to be different. Amazingly a lot of those that say that they hate it have watched an awfully large number of epsodes. If I can't get into something then usually by episode 2 I give up, I don't watch 20 odd episodes before I decide it's not for me.

Saying that I did try to watch black clover, it appears to be popular at the moment so I really wanted to give it a try but I just could not get interested enough in it, I would put it on and do something else while it was on in the background.

Just accept that if you like something then enjoy it, don't let others put you off just because they don't like it or it's become fashionable with some groups to hate on a show.

Lol, gun gale online is probably one of the only saving graces that SAO have and you just gonna skip it lol. That's like going to a meal and skipping the best food.

I don’t think I’ll ever trust people based on what they think is good or not. I don’t mean that in a bad way, my point is just that people like such different things. I once had a friend online who I discovered shared some of my favorite shows and then recommended me one that I had stalled on watching. Totally thought I was gonna love it because he recommended it but I absolutely hated it lol.

Also saw a video on social media with one guy who had seen over 200 anime and listed the few that he rated a 10/10, only 3 of which I’ve seen and hated all of them. Dude was just a big fan of a certain genre because I couldn’t disagree with him more lol. Anyway my point is that after lots of situations like these, I decided that I was gonna be the only judge on what I like or not and not let other people’s opinions deter me from trying something. I take into account what other people say about something but I won’t believe it until I experience it for myself.

As far as I'm concerned, it's In Another World with my Smartphone.
I discovered that series via its anime adaptation. And while I first watched it as a guilty pleasure, I ultimately got to sincerely enjoy it.
Sure, it plays its Isekai tropes very very straight, but I much prefer something bog-standard that's honest about it and knows what's it's doing, over something that tries too hard to be a subvertion and takes itself too seriously over it.
Also, people are screaming about the main protagonist, Touya, being an extreme case of an OP Marty Stu that's even worse than Kirito.
Yeah, he's OP all right. But there's something I really enjoy about Touya over all other OP protags: at least with him, he's a pragmatist who goes for the quickest and most efficient method to defeat an enemy. With him, no needless and stupid stretching of drama about whever will he win or not. In fact, the fun with him, is to wonder: "Now, in which new efficient (and hilarious) way will he dispatch his opponent this time?" That's quite refreshing if you wanna ask me.
Finally, I think the anime didn't give full justice to the series. Not only it had low animation budget values, it ended right before its most interesting arcs. I would have loved to see in animated form the Regulus Civil War arc (which took place immediately after the ending point of the anime), as well as the Yuulong Invasion Arc. The anime also skipped some storylines from the first 2 Light Novels and a half it adapted.
I thus strongly advise giving a full chance to the series by reading the source Light Novel. In my case, I'm in the middle of reading it in its original Japanese (note that it also has an official English translation), and I'm glad I did.
setokaibaswife9 days ago#96059604As I got into Japanese anime at a really young age, I started to shrug off any popular English dubbed anime, as it was too mainstream for me.
Yes, this also included Yugioh.
Do I regret it? Kind of, but not really, cause I think I discovered Yugioh when I most needed it and also when I had the funds to properly indulge in it.
Now I have a huge Yugioh collection, a very cute Patamon plush and Digimon cards, and I realise that some mainstream dubbed anime I shrugged off back then is actually awesome. I still prefer it in Japanese though.
oh cool gx was awesome :p i remember faking being sick to watch that jn middle school

I watched zexal for a bit before i got very bored lols. And then arc v i gave it 6 episodes i think idk tho o.o

Now that i think about it gx was way ahead of its time in that lots of people preferred old yugioh but jaden was my idol lmao

Yeah, i remember when everyone told me sao was an amazing anime. I watched it with my friends and loved the first cour to pieces. We drew fanart of asuna and everything. Over the years though i have found myself less enamoured with the plot, and kind of gave up watching on the second latest season. I think it took a while to cultivate this reputation of bad because at the time I'm not sure there was much like it. It's also why i decided to order two of the alter sao figures yesterday, breaking my usual 1 per series rule, because of nostalgia i guess
