Hey there, fellow collectors,
I hope you're all doing well.

Today I want to talk about something I honestly don't understand. This might turn into a rant at some point, so be warned. :D


About a week ago I asked a shop whether it's possible to transfer one of my preorders to a different person. Like always when I contacted them I got a response very quick. I think it was either the same or the next day. The response I got was, that it isn't possible to do that, because they already have a bunch of people on the waitlist for that figure. The website says that it's no problem to cancel an order, as long as the item isn't on the way to them / ready to ship, so I asked the shop to cancel it. I explained why I have to do it and kindly asked whether this would cause a problem with existing preorders / future buys. There shouldn't be any problem, especially since they already have people who want to buy the figure. This was 6 days ago. Haven't heard anything since then. I sent another mail yesterday forwarding the E-Mail I sent before, in case something went wrong with this one or the shop owner missed it somehow. IDK if it's just me being impatient, but it's kinda weird that I always got a quick response before and now I don't hear back from them. It's a shame, because it's the shop I use for most of my orders and I was really happy with them and their service. I could be overthinking it, maybe the owner's just ill or something, but at the moment I feel like I'm getting ghosted.

I only have 1 other preorder with them and luckily the figure's still available at most shops.

Have you made any experience like this before?

Before anyone asks, it's none of the japanese shops you usually hear about doing this.

Got an answer today and it was no problem to cancel the order and keep my existing preorder, so I guess I was worried about nothing.

Got an answer today and it was no problem to cancel the order and keep my existing preorder, so I guess I was worried about nothing. You hear all those horror stories from people about other shops and immediately overthink things like that. Glad it got solved.

I sent several emails until I gave up and gave them a phone call.
They explained to me that, due to covid, they had less staff, and getting to customers was taking a bit more time. But after the phone call, they promptly resolved my issue.
Maybe it's the same problem with your shop? Try calling them and ask about it.

I read the rules and I'm not complaining about this one. I know that you use the forums for that kind of posts. :) Also, I don't want to mention the shop, because I still think it could be an error. I think I made it clear in my article. I just thought I'd mention the "rant part" in the beginning, because I wasn't really sure how it was going to end, when I started writing it.

Wow, that's awful. I hope you can find it for a more realistic price one day.

I'll do that, if I don't get a response in the next few business days. As far as I know they also work on Saturday, but there's a holiday on monday here in Germany, so I'll wait till tuesday.

At first, the kind customer service lady was like, "there might be a preorder in here", but in my head I was like, "nah" because both the figures I ordered were in stock. Then she had a look see and was like, "oh this is a technical error!" and she got it fixed for me and they shipped my package that day.
The computer trying to screw me over, lmao. Imagine had I never checked. I would have been waiting for that package for the rest of my life.
