Has anyone else noticed this with Amiami pre-owned lately?Has anyone else noticed this with Amiami pre-owned lately?Ask MFC

So every so often I'll check Amiami pre-owned just for the heck of it, see what they get, and recently I've noticed that sometimes they'll add this huge batch of figures. Like suddenly it'll jump from 100-something pages to like 300+ (and the nendoroid section specifically will be like 24 pages, wow). I also know the basics of how it works, and how items will often sit there with no price for a bit as staff (or bots? lol) works their way through everything and they get priced accordingly. I've also seen items say "pre-owned order closed" with a price moments before they actually go live, so I understand all that.

But what I'm confused about is that many of these items never seem to get prices. They never even say "order closed", they just sit there for hours and then disappear. Pre-owned usually updates anywhere between 11pm and 1am for me, so if I'm feeling up to it I'll check maybe once or twice an hour. This one time I got on pretty early, and they had just added some Naruto Gals figures and I sat there watching them the entire night, only for them to disappear without ever actually going up TvT

Sometimes I do check a little late, but even when I get lucky and log on right about the time they add new stock it's always the same thing with these big batches.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this and might know what's going on? Is Amiami just glitching or is this some kind of "coming soon" preview lol? Is it crazy figure bots buying all the new pre-owned stock the millisecond it goes up and I'm always just seconds too late? The possibilities are endless!

Also this isn't some kind of like, pressing or upsetting matter, just if anyone knows what's up and can tell me that'd be much appreciated! If not, that's fine too!

JSandio10 days ago#101310319I for one would find it humorous if this was a passive aggressive move against using bots on the site. It seems that's the majority of people posting here at least.
It's probably not though, but it would be funny. It'll be interesting to see if AmiAmi ever implements actual rate limiting and starts cracking down on certain API call patterns.

Omg that would be hilarious XD the thought of all those false listings actually being things that were gonna go up, but they've got someone monitoring 'em so if something tries to be bought the second it goes up some guy at Amiami goes "Psych!" and pulls the listing lol

But yeah, it would be nice to see sites start implementing anti-bot protocols so us normal folk can actually snag some cool items! Tho I'm no tech whiz so I have no idea if that's even feasible, but I like the thought!

Amiami pre owned is sweaty as fuck. the buyfriend.moe website is too slow.

I could be mistaken but I always assumed with AmiAmi pre-own the item might have been in inventory at 1 time but it was sold before the store site could refresh inventory availability hence no price. I too have encountered 100+ pages of offerings but usually by page 43 the items posted show the MSRP when initially released and there is either an "Orders Closed" tag or no price above.

And if I bookmark an Ami Ami pre-own item and it sells before I purchase it/postpone purchasing it the pre-own item in bookmark will vanish = sold = gone = u missed it.

Odyssey10 days ago#101271048i use a website that helps me track any pre-owned items i'm looking for. i get sent emails of things that i think are on amiami, only to click on the link and see that there was nothing at all. it's crazy that amiami hasn't solved this problem yet.

I think we're using the same thing; I thought it was a system error that I was getting all these mails, only to find no page at AmiAmi; but I never thought it could be an error on AmiAmi's side. Makes sense.

for me, this has been happening at least once a week for a good few months now. like other commenters have said, it's made buyfriend completely unusable and since i also check the madoka tab ive had fun seeing those same three permanent listings since like, may i think? me and my boyfriend have talked a lot about potential causes but ultimately i have no idea why it's happening. kind of reassuring to see that everyone else is as confused as i am, i felt like i was the only one who didn't understand what was going on

Yesterday I was looking for a specific figure and I was SO HAPPY when I found it in the pre owned section. It was uploaded at 12pm here, and I literally refreshed the page every 5 minutes (im serious) waiting for it to become available for purchase for 2 hours. But at 2pm it was just gone??? Its my first time being super serious about buying at the pre owned section and I was so disappointed :(
