Figures That Never Look As AdvertisedFigures That Never Look As AdvertisedMisc

The largest part of my collection is my PreCure section, particularly my Cutie Figures as TOEI moved from making scales to more easily traded merchandise. They're cute, portable, and take up little space while still capturing the beauty of each Cure. All of them appear just as they do on their cases and in advertisements.

ALL. BUT. ITEM #276476.

I've had four different versions of Cure Mermaid's Cutie Figure, and I don't know if it's just my terrible luck, or if the lighting and colouring of her professional pictures, but her hair? That upper length of light blue that fades into the deeper blue?

IT'S ALWAYS BLEACHED. ALWAYS.

She is the only figures in all of the Cutie Figure run that has this sort of strange error in her design. In the show, her hair is a rich blue, but the figure always has a bleached look about it. It's certainly not a bad enough error not to purchase her, but I don't understand why they don't just show us the real colouring???

Anyway, mini rant over. How about you guys? Any figures that never appear the way they should by the ads or pictures? Did you keep them despite their flaws?

ITEM #890492 has a very visible seam in his hair that is only hidden when he has his cat ears in. The part of his hair that goes down above his face is also a separate piece with another visible seam.

It's not apparent in the promo photos, but his default faceplate also has a large amount of pink blush, more than is normal.

For such a massive drop in quality from Kaguya, it's ridiculous that I paid more than twice as much for Shirogane.

I've ordered Fujiwara's and I've heard that her quality control was the worst of the three, so I'm scared.

Rushnn6 months ago#103830022While I havent had this issue at all I'm just popping in to say it's super cool to see someone with a pre cure collection show up!! Have just started my own for nostalgia purposes following cure Black and White :') managed to snag the tamashii Premier scale recently so I'm excited to see more pretty cure fans showing their heads!! Gonna check out your collection now x) Ooh, nice catch! I've got their old scales from '06 or something, with the matching Shiny Luminous, but that one is so sleek!

general-radix6 months ago#103854247Insofar as plushes count, my ITEM #1121884 has a different head shape than the promotional photo. It's not a dealbreaker, just kinda funny. XD
(Tangential: funnily enough, I got my first Precure-anything today, Figuarts Cure Chocolat. XD)
Oh, boy, misshaped heads are the best XD

And congrats on adding Chocolat to your collection!

FakePsychotropic6 months ago#103830549I think the one leg up PUP has is that it does more obscure characters that otherwise wouldn't have much figures, at least not new ones. A lot of characters are gone extortionate in the aftermarket and new PUP releases mean fans can have at least one figure, of at least decent quality for a good price.I am definitely not against buying Pop Up Parade figures. I have a few. And as you say they have a great variety of figures released and being released. This is a pro of PUP figures. I just wish for the thirty-dollar plus price they were better quality than a prize figure. Not saying that all PUP's are super bad and definitely not saying that all prize figures are better than PUP's. I'm just saying that you can get cheaper prize figures that are better. I own 6 Pop Up Parade figures and they are all prize figure quality. Some are better than others ITEM #1047308 is horrible for example while ITEM #1211192 is great but they are all prize figure quality and are 1/9th scale and cost almost twice as much brand new as a brand-new prize figure.
I'm not a hater of PUP's but logically I can't help but see them as overpriced prize figures now after buying a few.

I only own one PUP, Goblin Slayer ITEM #806091, and I love him. I'm actually planning to order a few more PUPs because of it. Will have to see if there are quality problems with others.

ITEM #235731 basically looks like a prize figure. Hell, if I didn't own her or had no knowledge on her, I'd say she was a prize figure based on quality alone. She actually soured me on scale figures for a while as she was my first and I was like, "Well if the quality is the same, why should I pay £100+ for figure quality I can get for £30?"

I think my biggest disappointment was ITEM #61566 I know, it is not that bad and I know it was griffin standard, but I was disappointed. Now I am still happy to have her, the mangaka died, the company is bankrupt, so the figure is unique, just the price won't rise anymore as the show is pretty unknown (the future of most shows)

LolipopGallery6 months ago#103830064I've actually pointed this out myself. Pop Up Parade figures are nothing more than glorified prize figures but more expensive. I've got better quality prize figures that are bigger scale and cheaper.

FRRRRRR ITS SO STUPID!!! it's so misleading cuz they ALWAYS make the prototypes really pretty and they don't show any stupid hair supports or those god awful bases in the promo pictures,,, then they arrive and you realize most of the price probably went into the size of the box LOL. AND YEAH if you compare ITEM #1085445 to ITEM #756832 side by side there's SUCH a huge difference in quality it's ridiculous,,,
