The WishlistThe Wishlist

Hi guys, I've been giving a lot of thought about the wishlist.

In the past month that I've been on MFC, I've put a lot of figures into my wishlist.

But when my GF asks me whether or not I will buy them all, it got me thinking, maybe I won't since I want to only have them if they're SUPER NAISE! It's also in my wishlist because I'd want them, but I'm not gonna spend money on them, it's in my wishlist and I don't mind getting them for free, as in I "wish" for them.

Since then, I've removed quite an amount of figures from my wishlist.

I've observed other people's wishlist, and from what I've found, some have 10-20 figures on their wishlist, whilst some have 100+. That got me curious to ask MFC this.

So my question to you guys is, what do you hope to achieve when you put the figures in your wishlist?

Was hoping that the poll allows a person to vote multiple options, but looks like that's not happening yet.

  • 11%I want it, but it's so old and out of stock, that it's a collector's gem/grail now!
  • 2%I want it, but won't bother buying it.
  • 15%I will get it no matter what!
  • 6%Just wishing it will drop into my lap from the sky!
  • 3%Waiting to see if the prototype/painted one is Naisu!

I'm in a similar spot as you, at first I just wishlisted any figure I thought was pretty and wouldn't mind having in my collection. But that really got out of control, and I asked myself "hey now that I actually have money, do I actually see myself buying ALL of these in the future?" No, definitely not. Since then the list has been narrowed down quite a bit, and I'm periodically weeding out any impulse figures to keep their numbers to a minimum.

So now, you could say they're all things I like enough to buy eventually. If the price is nice, of course.

Mostly it's figures that aren't out yet or ones that I'm planning on getting eventually when I find one for a good deal (if it's a figures that's been out of stock for a while). The only thing on my wishlist that's most likely not going to happen is the Revoltech Raoh + Kokuoh-go set because that's not only incredibly expensive and rare, but huge.

It's kind of a helpful tool to allow me to plan future purchases.

I add figures I'd like to have eventually but I don't have the money to buy them at the moment (even if they're already/still available). Sometimes I go through my list and clean it from figures I don't want anymore (like I've found a better figure of the character, I'm no longer interested in the character or the figure turned out bad). I also have a most wanted list, but I'm currently cleaning my wishlist so hopefully it won't be necessary anymore.

I add figures I want to get eventually and they are usually characters I'd like in my collection, but pre-orders make it hard to get them. Sometimes I also get other figures/goods first before hunting for my list so I don't seem to organize my priorities very well. I also keep my list very short and realistic in price to avoid possible anguish, with some exceptions.

R_Dorothy (5 years ago) #1288618I'm lucky in that I'm all through with obtaining the older/out of print figures that were on my wishlist. I now use it to keep track of the figures I plan on pre-ordering so I have a good idea of how much cash I'll need. It really puts things in perspective when you realize there's about 30 figures you'll be ordering ><

I kinda know how that feels, until I keep browsing AmiAmi and Hobby Search!

mintbunny (5 years ago) #1288304Mine is figures that I want to own someday even if it's tomorrow or 5 years from now. I frequently remove figures from my wish list, but it's still close to 400. I just can't help it. They are all figures I want to physically own someday cause I love the way they look!

That is a lot in your wishlist! I think from time to time we will update our lists depending on whether or not we still want it in the future.

Norikun (5 years ago) #1288416While I would love for my wishlist to fall from the sky (and not break), there are a LOT of figures that I look at and think "I would totally display this." My wishlist is strictly a planned collection that I want to actually work towards getting. In other words... it's my Nendoroid Pokedex!

Yeah, my GF somehow wants ALL THE NENDOROIDS, but it's a fact that it's kinda impossible to have them all since some of them are probably so rare nowadays. I got lucky when I managed to pre-order ITEM #117506, everywhere I went to, their pre-order was closed already.

ChaosIncursion (5 years ago) #1288194I find it interesting that sometimes when you look at another person's wishlist, you might suddenly add a few more figures into yours lol.

Yes! That is so true. XD

My wishlist is really just a "like" list of things that I MIGHT actually buy some day.
