Play Arts Kai Catwoman (Batman: Arkham City)Play Arts Kai Catwoman (Batman: Arkham City)

Back when I first made the review of PAK Batman (Arkham City) action figure, I was excited in thinking of how my next review will turn out to be. Now, that excitement seems to be almost non-existence. Considering that photo shoot work for this figure was rather uninspiring, I can't help but feel that this review might not be as detailed as my previous review. Anyway, here's a review of:

Play Arts Kai Catwoman from the Arkham City video game.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362370242.jpeg Same art-style for the box as PAK Bat. Oddly enough, I find it more suitable for Kitty.

As I mentioned in the previous review, I wasn't too thrilled when I heard that there's going to be PAK Catwoman (along with a new Batman PAK) for the PAK AC line. That is until I saw official images for Bat and Kitty.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362370244.jpegSame packaging style as Bat's. Nothing fancy here.

While I am rather disappointed with Bat, I am somewhat a bit (keyword: bit) satisfied with Kitty. She's much more enjoyable in terms of play value. Still, my disappointed with Kitty, however outweighs my satisfaction.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362374467.jpeg The 3rd inscription has got to be a very clever hint for the already released PAK Robin. Just like the 3rd inscription on PAK Batman's box which turns out to be a hint for the also already released PAK Batman (The Dark Knight Returns)

While the level of the sculpts' quality are the same as Bat, I find the sculpts on Kitty much more easier to the eye. I can never understand why the sculptor thought it was a good idea to add creases and wrinkles on Bat's Batsuit. Despite all that, I'm still expecting more from Kitty here.

While the sculpts does looks pretty good, the paint apps are a total miss. No consistency whatsoever with the paint apps for the skins on Kitty's face and her chest. Her suit doesn't seems to be badly affected, but her face and her chest (which I'm sure everyone agree it's her central focus) kinda ruins the whole thing.

Her poseability are surprisingly much better than Bat (No Cape!). And yet, I'm still having trouble in getting her into the pose I wanted.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362372078.jpeg How far her head can look down and how much the shoulder joint can extend.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362372080.jpeg How far her head can look up and how much her elbow can bend. More than 90 degree, something that Bat can't achieve.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362372082.jpeg Can't pull off her 'cat-crouching' pose just like in the game. At least she can do a kneeling pose more elegantly than Bat.

Accessories wise, it's Play Arts so don't expect much.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362372084.jpeg Alternate head with the goggle down. This is where the terrible paint apps shows up again. the skin tone on this head are darker than the default head. Or rather it looks like she's putting on too much make-up on this head.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362372086.jpeg Maybe it's not a thick make-up. Maybe it's a bruises that she got when fighting Two-Face's thugs.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362372510.jpeg A pair of claw hand to take an eyes out. Aside from a different gesture, the sculpts doesn't make the hand look any different than a open palm gesture. Maybe they should have sculpted in a sharp nails or something.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362372512.jpeg It's kinda hard to pose her into look like she trying claw someone since the sculpts of the hand's gesture aren't as convincing as I originally thought.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362372514.jpeg Trying to pounce on some thugs or posing for Facebook photo? You decide.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362372516.jpeg With a little imagination, maybe you can use those hand for other imaginative poses.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/Terrorhunt1362372518.jpeg Her whip and a pair of hand to hold it. And this whip are just as bad as the droopy plastic cord that comes with Bat.

While she is much better than Bat in certain aspect, she is far from the best. That being said, I think that she's somewhat a worthwhile purchase, if you can put up with the 5800 yen price tag.

She's actually a much better purchase on her own than with PAK Bat, so you should probably save the other 5800 yen for something else unless you're a hardcore Batfan.

Even though she looks much better on her own, a companion or 2 like Poison Ivy or Harley Quinn would make a great sight. With those 2, you'll be able to create your own Gotham Sirens.

YaoneKohai (5 years ago) #1393893She is actually pretty decent compared to most PAKs that i have seen. I have never owned one but I am extremely nervous to get my Lara Croft PAK when my collector's edition comes in the mail >.<

I'm wondering about that figure myself. I'm picking up my game tomorrow morning.
