Dream : Old Figure QualityDream : Old Figure QualityAsk MFC

Now I can finally make this post and share with you all my happiness!!!,

I'm a greatest fan of Fruits Basket (old series, old mangá and old Anime) by that time we did not have this incredible figures market so old series suffer with lack of products, and I never realized that actually that is a line of scaled models by Southern Island ^^ (Ok I was pretty idiot by not searching properly... ¬¬")

But as it's Old luckily I found one sale in MFC and I bought it from one of our friends here! I'm so so Happy! Kyou is one of the most important characters in my whole life and for me is a dream by having it! I guess I'm capable of even cry like a baby when he arrives LOL

My friends criticized me a lot by getting it, they said it's ugly, like an alien, sculpted in wood, made of biscuit seems like a groom made for wedding cakes... ¬¬" but I simply don't care!.. for me he's awesome and very beautiful *_*

The figure it's old, from an old series, at by that time we don't have so much quality.. so... anyway... I'm pretty happy right now.

and I like to Share..

does this happened to someone out there? I would like to hear ^^

And for me... I collect Memories so... even he is not that beautiful... for me he is simply awesome ^^

By the way the figure is this one and I'm proud to mark it as "ordered" ^^: ITEM #980

I have two decent-looking figures from 1998: ITEM #168 and ITEM #5918. They look really good for their age and the size is really decent, but they are squishy (yes, the parts are hollow inside and the PVC is rather soft) and cannot stand properly.

I still love them for my love of the characters and manga.

Funny you should post this! Just recently I saw the Shigure figure at a Con and my thoughts were "They made Fruits Basket figures?!" lol. I thought they were prize figures though honestly. Sadly no Hatsuharu was ever made because I'd love a figure of him! >.<'

Older doesn't always equal bad quality. :3 Plus it's all relative. If you love something and it makes you happy who cares, right?

Imanov8 years ago#1404868I highly don't believe on it, it's Hanayume shoujo after all, it's almost a miracle they in fact got these figures... Rare case.
You see, even really pop/classic stuff like Besairyuu no Bara don't get the scale figs it deserve, not to talk about Utena. Just giants have their chance on the latest 'flashback' announces, like Sailor Moon or Card Captor Sakura ( just coincidence, but if I remember well, both are Nakayoshi shoujo ).
I like the booby and sexy ladies on my shelf, but I'd really love to see some stuff from the shoujo I love, I just own very few, they don't release it =_=... But you know, mainstream shonen goodies still sell better, I understand how companies don't wanna take the risk!

Exaclty this^ It has to do with how much a series sells in the market, Leosach, and keep in mind that particulary the figure one is more focused on the male gender, so shoujo related figures are very rare.

I have a couple of old figures, including an unlisted Ayanami Rei from way back in 1998...it's shown some age due to the previous owner being unable to take proper care of it, but the manufacture quality sure is nice. ^.^

One of my friends keeps criticizing my taste in older figures, but I've shown him time and time again that a lot of them really aren't as bad as he makes them out to be. There are certainly worse figure being made today than Kotobukiya's figures from their 05/06 era, and I think their Clannad line is still up to par with most of today's figures.

Old, lol. When the manga was published, the basic quality of anime merch was already OK, not perfect but OK. Of course those figures can't be compared to modern Alter ones, but they were not much worse than today's prize figures.
