Boxing up figuresBoxing up figures

HinoteHinote4 years agoDiary
So I'm moving out in August and I've been trying to pack up a few things here and there so when the time comes I can make it less stressful. So I've been thinking of boxing up my figures and just setting them aside for now. Right now I don't have them in a glass case (which I'll be getting when I move out) and they are just sitting on some shelves and well they are gathering a ton of dust even though I dust them regularly. I live in a tiny room with another person and it gets dusty quick. I just feel like putting them in their boxes for now would be a safer move for them but I've been finding it so hard to box them because I won't get to glance over at them and see them. I know later I'll see them and such but now it's hard. Also all the space they are taking up could be used for my sister to display her things and take over the room since I'm leaving, I want it to be comfortable for her. Anyone else have a hard time emotionally, boxing their figures up? Do you find it hard to not see them if you have boxed them up?

thanks!
and also random question just for fun!
What is your favorite figure in your collection?

Know how you feel, I have had all of mine in their boxes for well over a year now because of my current living situation and know how hard it is to not be able to see them for all their glory.

We might move sometime in August, sometimes when little cousins or young family friends come over I box up my figures...(・_・;I don't want them to play with them like they're toys you know! But I get sort of sad but I actually think it's really fun seeing them in boxes again! And then taking them out for another time when it's all over!
I think my favorite figure is figma...Reimu. But personally I absolutely LOVE my figma Madoka, she's the one I'm most attached to emotionally!

The lease on my apartment is up Sept. 1, so I'll be packing up all my stuff soon. My husband and I are still looking for our own house, but we have a backup plan in case we don't find one. it will be tough if I can't unpack all my figures in thier new home in a few months!

And my current favorite is Edgeworth: ITEM #53496 The new AA game comes out soon, and I want it so badly!

I just moved a couple of months ago and I had to box up all of my figures (they were among the last things I packed). They only had to sit for about two weeks before I got to unpack them, but it still made me pretty sad. Figures don't belong in their boxes. ;_; And yeah, I do have a hard time not seeing them. My parents think I should keep my figures on display in the basement or the garage or something so they're "out of the way" and they just don't understand that I bought those figures so that I could bask in their beauty every day, not so that I could dump them deep within the bowels of the house where no one would ever see them. (Non-collectors just don't get it!)

It was also extremely tedious because I couldn't figure out how some of them were supposed to go in their boxes. I was extremely thankful for the figures that didn't come with a million pieces that I had to take apart.

I couldn't even begin to wonder what my favorite figure is. I don't think I could even pick my top ten. It's like comparing apples and oranges. I love them all in different ways. :)

I have a hard time boxing mine up too every spring when I leave the dorm to go home for summer, especially since currently there's no space to display them in my room at the house because I share it with my mom and brother (we live with my grandparents at the moment)... And my brother's taken over my desk as his gaming space, which I suppose is fair enough since I'm not home 2/3rds of the year anyway. So they have to sit in my grandma's closet in their boxes all summer until I go back to school. So I know the feeling, it's hard to not be able to look at them, but at least I know they're safe here at the house and not in a storage unit like the rest of my dorm stuff. Plus as others have said, one of my favorite parts of moving into the dorms again for school is unpacking my figures and other decorations. :D

As for my favorite figure... Well, this one's hard to answer because I love all of my figures! ^^; Although I'd have to say I do have a soft spot especially for ITEM #78914 - and yet he hasn't even arrived yet. TwT Of the figures I already have though, I'd say my favorite is ITEM #39155. I love all of my Hetalia One-Coins that I have so far, but for some reason Austria came out exceptionally well I think.

I'm going to have to go through the same thing soon with moving house. I think disassembling some of them like Ultimate Madoka and Max Factory's Aoba will be a pain and I will miss them when they're packed away. But getting them out again will be fun, especially since we're moving to a bigger place so there'll be more room for them.

My favorite is probably Alter's Izaya, although I do love Aoba too.

I felt like that when I moved. But when I finally got around to taking them out again, it was like Christmas. It was fun to open everything again. It's hard now, but you'll have fun again in no time.

I don't have a favorite figure. I love them all for very different reasons. :)

I had to box up my entire collection, put the boxes in containers and store them in a dark corner.
That's sad because I don't really know when I get them unboxed again.

kagaminelen (4 years ago) #1580963some figures especially the big ones are sorta a pain in the butt to put back into the box. Agreed, I can't even imagine boxing up certain nendoroids with a thousand tiny pieces... (I keep all accessory parts in the original boxes)
I would be sad boxing them up, but yeah, knowing I'll see them again is probably enough to make me okay with it!

And my favorite figure is probably ITEM #78406. She was one of the first figures I got when I began collecting seriously, and I love how cute and soft she looks~

Like Exand if it were because I had to get rid of them or Sell them becasue of finacial reasons I would be emotional I guess to a point. But boxing them up so I can have the fun of Unboxing them again at a later date and redo the entire display.. Hell its like Christmas for a 2 weeks if you have a tone of figurines.. HEHEH

The other side of the coin is a positive one...
