1000 Edition Prints1000 Edition Prints

Recently I purchased a set of Sailor Moon 1000 Edition prints. These come out of Spain, but I purchased them from a company in Belgium who claimed they had bought out the company who originally sold them.

The Sailor Moon community doesn't have much information on these prints. They're marked 1996, and unfortunately the information we keep track of now doesn't appear to have been as well kept back then.

Basically I know these posters were made for other series like DBZ, and I want to know if anyone here can tell me about them... what identifies a bootleg vs official, and perhaps any other information there may be.

Rumour is basically that matte is official and gloss is bootleg, but I've compared a damaged matte poster that I was replacing with the glossy replacement and they're exactly the same.

Copyright information and info on the posters reads:

Left side:
copyright © 1996 NAOKO TAKEUCHI. All rights reserved. First published in Japan by Kodansha Ltd., Tokyo

Right side:
1000 EDITIONS - CTRA. PERELLO, S/N / 43513 RASQUERA (TARRAGONA) SPAIN

Here are photos of my 1000 Editions:

Hello,
"1000 Editions" is only the name of the spanish firm, that have nothing to do with the number of posters. They had made 7 models (6 medium 50x70cm and 1 large 68x98cm). In some ways they are limited because the spanish firm does not exist anymore, it's no more print of these posters only old stock from some sellers ^^

Today the medium posters still "easy" to find. 3 models printed on matte thick paper (first printing like the big poster) and 3 others on glossy paper (2nd printing, the large poster has not a 2nd printing what's why it's so hard to find it now and it's the rarest from the original set).

Personally I prefer the matte finish from the first printing, I think it's classier, it's more like a "original drawing" (especially with the watercolors style of Naoko). I have 3 posters from the first printing (the large one with everyone on the piece of ice and 2 mediums Usagi with her engagement ring and all the girls in swimsuit ) I love them ^_^

(sorry for my bad english ^^; )

Paulichu (5 years ago) #1597654That makes a lot of sense. That would explain why they're the same. Do you know anything about them being numbered? Mine aren't, and I don't know anyone with numbered posters, but there's a rumour that they official posters have a limited #/1000 marking. Perhaps it's just the ice burg poster?
My Eternal posters were purchased within weeks of each other. The matte one was purchased from a user on DeviantArt. She packaged it in a square mailing tube and it buckled during shipping and ripped open, which is why I replaced it. She said she purchased it new though. About maybe 2 weeks - 1 month later I purchased these from a print shop in Belgium who claims to have bought out the company who originally made these posters, and therefore had their old stock.

Numbering I have no idea. I don't remember seeing numbers on other people's pictures so I assumed there were none. I do hope the posters continue to be printed in case I change my mind and wanted to get some. That Eternal SM sky poster is pretty epic as a single image on a big poster.

leonasenshi (5 years ago) #1597638I have 4 of these posters, from what I have investigated over the years, the matte posters were the first run (in printing) the gloss ones were the second run. Both are legit.

Thank you. I figured it might be something like that.

Raze (5 years ago) #1596246I was going to get these posters a few months ago but I don't have any room to frame them. They are huge! These pictures are tempting me, though, haha. That Outer and Inner senshi image is a favorite manga image of mine. Thank goodness the artwork is in the art books or else I'd really be going crazy. :)
I think there were two printings. The first printing had the matte paper and the newer printings have the glossy paper. Those Eternal Moon posters pretty much confirm this since your older poster has the matte paper. How long ago did you buy that matte poster?
From what I've seen, this iceberg poster is the rarest out of all of these 1000 Edition posters. I think these were printed in actual limited quantities since this image isn't sold anymore unlike the other ones. I'd love to get that poster since in the art book the image is a two-page spread.

SailorSarah (5 years ago) #1595032These are beautiful. I don't know anything about them, but I do have a large poster of that picture from the art books where all the senshi are standing on an iceberg with the moon behind them. It has that same wording on the bottom as these prints. My ex-boyfriend bought it off ebay for me like 9 years ago, so I don't know anything about it either.

I've never heard of them before, but honestly they're so beautiful. I'd love to own a set myself. X3

As to your question I honestly have no clue, but I surely wouldn't mind owning them myself. Manga prints mean so much more to me.
