Latest pic of work-in-progress "Gallery"

So right after my Japan trip I actually had to start packing to move to a new place. The bad news was that I had some heavy Detolfs and a few hundred figures to box up and move. The good news was that the new place was right across the street and much bigger (aka more display space!)

Here's some pictures I took of the process. Still not completely done tidying up my new place yet (let alone finish unpacking all the figures), so expect a more organized, complete "room tour" blog post down the road.

One last photo of my old place before it gets torn down... the calm before the storm...

Used a dolly to transport the Detolfs with a help from some friends. Boxing up all the figures actually took over half of the moving time.

There were a bunch of figures without boxes ;(

Citrus had the awesome idea of raising the Detolfs with some Expedit blocks... was the perfect storage space for all my P'chara Arcueids too!

Planning on photographing the individual figures after I'm done. Anyone have any figure review requests? Add them into the poll below, I've already started the list (see collection/Keri... for my collection, LIST #13040 just for my TYPE-MOON stuff)

I2ival (4 years ago) #1976028Can you also tell me how you set up your detolf on the racks?
Did you disassemble the detolfs before you moved and then assembled them on the racks or did you carry the detolfs and put them on

Assembled in front, then lifted up on top one by one carefully. 3 people required: one on each side lifting and one holding it steady and aiming the movements. It is dangerous to attempt the lift alone as there is a high chance of losing balance and tipping over, hurting yourself or breaking the Detolf.

Looks really good!
I'm also about to move and wanted to arrange my detolfs exacty the same way with expedits. But when I looked up the width of those boxes, they were larger by 1cm each so I was afraid that the gap at the edge of the racks would add up with each detolf, since I like to arrange my shelves next to each other without any gap. Your pictures show, that they'd look fine with a small gap in between, so thanks for that!

Btw. I also like how your house looks cleaner now! ;)

Tiamat26 (5 years ago) #1683306Very very impressive and what an incredible amount of figurine boxes. Now that you have your new place where are you going to put the empty boxes?

...yeah ...working on that... >_>

MetalGearSora (5 years ago) #1684394Incredible setup, the row of Detolfs is awesome!
With regards to the Expedit riser blocks, I've heard that the Detolf may be too heavy to sit upon them and not eventually break the Expedit. Is that true or will they easily support the weight of a Detolf?

So far I've noticed no warping whatsoever and others have done so without issues, e.g. PICTURE #431348 and www.youtube.com...
I was also able to easily sit on the EXPEDIT shelves/blocks and I weigh 50-60kgs, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Wow what an anime set up you have going on there. Love the row of Detolf's with the risers. I cant put the risers below mmine as I have my 6 detolfs in my theater room and the ceiling is a little low, bulkhead issues.

Very very impressive and what an incredible amount of figurine boxes. Now that you have your new place where are you going to put the empty boxes?

Kronut (5 years ago) #1682787Any reason you did not wire the detolfs up with LED lights?
Would you mind sharing what couch/sofa that is? It looks comfortable to sit/lay on while watching a few shows.

I didn't wire the Detolfs up with LED lights for the same reason they're currently half empty; I'm not done yet ;P I bought a set of IKEA Dioders to experiment with, not sure currently how I want to set it up.

The sofa-bed is IKEA's Beddinge Resmo with my custom Arcueid bed sheet used as a cover. There's also other IKEA Beddinge choices that differ only by padding material and price. The Beddinge Lovas, for example, is much cheaper, but its material is also much crappier and I have guests crash over at my place frequently enough that I figured I'd get nicer, comfier material.
