Comments Figure appearance not reaching expectations?

  • Oh yeah. I know what you mean. I feel like this with Armin Arlert ENCYCLOPEDIA #48285
There are not so many figure of him, sadly. But those, which have at least a prototype yet, don't really suit my expectation. The face looks always kinda of. Sadly, I don't know what is wrong with it in the first place, but he never looks like Armin to me :(. Maybe it just that I see him trough fangirl eyes and not how he really is....I don't know. But so far I wouldn't feel good buying any figures of him which I don't like.

I guess you cannot really do anything against a problem like this. If you have some model building skills, you could customizing a figure or even build your total own version of the character (that's, by the way, what I will try to do with Armin XD)
But if you don't dare to rework something like this, I guess the only thing you can do is waiting until some factory releases a figure of Chara-X, which suits you expectations :(

Ryoko and Washu from Tenchi Muyo. I'd love some decent figures of these characters but being that the series is so old it's doubtful I'll ever see anything outside of those wonky McFarlane and Pioneer things.

Gintoki from Gintama. I've wanted a scaled fig of him for soooo long but none of them can nail his face or expression.

I'm hoping they make either a scaled at least decent looking figure for Blair from soul eater (in her witch clothes perhaps sitting on a pumpkin) or even a badass looking stein figure (preferably both)

Yeah that happens, mainly when the bigger companies don't do a character, or if the Anime or other media they're from is fairly old.

I absolutely hate when I can't get a decent looking scale for a character I like.

It happens here and there that some figures might be off. As for the full absence of decent figures... Older characters suffer a lot, as their figures were produced long ago in the era of not-so-high-quality items. I haven't seen a single decent Spike Spiegel that I could fully approve of. Sometimes the newer merch - if it appears - doesn't make my day either. The new Sailor Moon figure, for example, doesn't seem much better than her older Bandai versions.

For me it's the popular Levi from Shingeki no Kyojin (I'm only talking about his scaled figures like Sentinel's or Pulchra's xD His Nendoroid and Figma are perfectly fine^^).There are a lot of Levi figures now but there is always something off with those figures in my opinion except for the Kotobukiya Version (which isn't painted yet.I hope that they won't mess him up :'D) I get extra picky if there are too many options to choose from. But the more annoying thing is if you want a scaled figure of one specific character (like Allen Walker from D.Gray-man) but there is only one ,a very old one which looks as crappy as some cheap trading figures or some figures made by Griffon

Asuna and Misaka Mikoto, I'm probably just being super picky but in my opinion Kotobukiya is the only one that's gotten their faces right (and not even all the time)
