    milkycafe (2 years ago) #12604997Yeah, they thought it could have been something dangerous inside. ^^; He stopped me at the entrance, holding up a ton of people behind me until I was able to cut it open with my plastic badge. Still seems really silly to me since it's a part of the anime con... thank you though, I appreciate your sentiment!

    Man that's ridiculous. I also missed a good portion at the beginning due to security I think they should've started letting people in WAY earlier to avoid this and tell people that cameras were not allowed on ticket pick up. I also saw people taking pictures :/ I was like um...okay so much for that.

    milkycafe (2 years ago) #12564872Yeah! Because it doesn't have a clear window on it so they can't see what I could have hidden inside. The front looks like this picture/1569302... and the flap is sealed over the side of the box. :/

    mariijane (2 years ago) #12564778i kinda wonder what kind of camera it was.
    in my experience there are usually two sets of rules during cons: the convention's policies and the venue's policies. (even if they conflict with each other slightly, venue always wins.)

    Shinigamiyoko (2 years ago) #12533552Sorry to hear you had such a bad time, I actually went and had a great time ;_;
    I did have a hotel (JW Marriott, so it's literally right there) and was able to drop everything off in my room prior to the concert, so I think that's part of why my experience was so smooth? I didn't know they'd be so picky about the figure boxes, so I'll note that for next year's concerts...
    They actually did stop me for my (chemical) glowsticks though, they took about 5 minutes to attempt to radio a manager only for the mgr to flippantly say "oh, yeah, those are fine.", so that was a little embarrassing. Another guy in line with the king blade type Anisong official glowstick told me that they'd told him to just "put it away for the concert and don't use it". I think they thought it was a flashlight? lol
    I saw someone else a few rows up have the same "double seat" thing happen, but it was pre-concert, so I think it was solved fairly quickly. With my social anxiety though, I dread the day someone's sitting in my seat and I have to get someone to solve the problem >_<;;
    I also saw a bunch of people taking videos/photos too, but the ushers in my aisle were stopping them if they saw them. I personally was too busy with my calls and glowsticks to bother with that, haha...
    Also, what sort of camera did you have? I know Microsoft Theater itself has a policy against "professional" cameras with detachable lens (although I was allowed to take mine and use it during MomoClo last year), but if you had a regular small 'point and shoot' type, I didn't know they were so strict with those too... I'm sorry you had to go through that ;_;

    Ah, it was just a simple point and shoot. Specifically: www.sony.com/el...

    But yeah, I didn't have a room nearby and I've had to shuttle or uber my way in and out everyday. Didn't think I'd have to drop my things off! I was pretty nervous about calling someone for help with my seat too but luckily he was attentive and came over to help without me saying a word. ^^

    shinhawk (2 years ago) #12531491I'm certain there's AX feedback thread, so hit them up or e-mail their PR with this info because they do listen. If they didn't listen to feedback, those canopies to provide shade would not be there now.
    The camera bit is really dumb because all smart phones and tablets come with cameras. At the concert door where the first event staff stopped you, did you bring up that all smart phones have cameras?

    Aww, I didn't think of it at the time. Just didn't want to cause trouble. :/ I really should have though!

    angelbott (2 years ago) #12528305on #6 is made me little confused.. o.o; They force you to opened your new nendo box? o.o?

    Yeah! Because it doesn't have a clear window on it so they can't see what I could have hidden inside. The front looks like this picture/1569302... and the flap is sealed over the side of the box. :/

    laketica (2 years ago) #12524661I was at AX also...... the lines are getting worse each year as the con grows and the staff+volunteers all contradict each other (not only at the concert but for all panels and everything going on at the con)... I was stuck into the wrong line for 45 min LOL, waited in it for nothing then I decided to doublecheck with a 2nd volunteer who checked for me and told me I was in the wrong line. -_- sorry to hear it was a terrible experience! I think it's really ridiculous to require you to open the snow owl Miku... I bought that too, so I know what you mean, it isn't a clear front... but omg... come ON... it's... omg.... -_- sobs. sad to hear you had to bust it open. =(

    Yeah, there was a bit of confusion in a few events I've seen. ^^; I'm sorry about your 45 minute wait! I also saw someone with a premier fan badge in the same will-call line as me after they've been in it for over 45 minutes, then a volunteer pulled him into the correct line.

    I was really sad about Snow Miku! I'm generally a MISB collector with only about 15% of my collection displayed, my goal is to keep my figurines in their boxes until I have a good display spot for each one. Not only that, the box isn't perfect anymore so I'm kind of disappointed...But at least the concert was a real blast! ^^
