Maakie (3 days ago) #29542512Even with the shoddier quality, it quite fits because it's an older franchise. I really treasure my Chrono Crusade items. :)
I recently bought multiple drama CD's from Chrono Crusade (of which I am planning a mini review about a few of them, Remington is also on a few of them!), and I personally especially like hearing Akira Ishida. Because of his role as Chrono, I started watching a lot of other anime that featured his voice. :) When it comes to the OST's, I mainly enjoy the more action-packed background music used there. :)

There really isn't much merchandise for the series. I used to have some boards from the series and I didn't know they've never been added to the database before. Just for fun I did that. Wow, I had to resort to the Wayback Machine to get photos, LOL.

I like drama CDs, but unless a series is popular most of the time there aren't any translations. Youtube has been great for translated drama tracks if I find them. Instead of reading a text file I can follow along with subtitles in real time which is as close to watching an anime as a drama CD can be.

I first heard Akira Ishida when fansubs came out for DN Angel. Wow, that's a long time ago! It has been fun to hear him again in the Persona 3 movies. The P3 drama CDs are funny.

Raze (3 days ago) #29517588How nostalgic! A lot of things made now are shoddier quality than in the past, but figures are one of those things that have definitely improved in quality over the years. You just have to look at an old figure like this to make you really appreciate the current ones. Derpy eyes are no more!
I love CC's OP and ED songs. I do listen them even now. The ED's animation is simple, but it's one of my favorites. The animation is one I like watching textless. I remember I was so excited to find an art book of sketches for the series and it had the ED images. Plus Remington. We can't get enough of him, LOL! I became a bigger fan of Hayami Sho after seeing the series. I'm so glad he got a part in the Fate series since I could hear more of him paired with the gorgeous visuals.

Coffee (3 days ago) #29512623Depends if they're lottery or crane-game.
These are most likely crane-game prizes.

Learn something new every day. ^^ Anyway, considering the premade 'holes' on the side of the box, they seem to indeed be crane-game prizes. Just like the keychains from this set seem to be easy to grab by crane looking at their packaging. Make me curious if the set had even more items than 3 figures + 3 keychains.

Maakie (4 days ago) #29512455Hrrmm that doesn't confirm their release price, but it triple confirms that they are prizes, haha!
I thought all prize figures on MFC were listed by the price of 1 try in the lottery/arcade they are from? They should actually be added with no price listed at all if I understood you correctly? (English is not my first language. >.<)

But since they're price figures, they don't really have a list price and it shouldn't be listed on MFC at all, but these entries are old so I'm guessing someone just added the info found on HS.

CrowMaiden (4 days ago) #29503730I would probably die if Kotobukiya did a nice Chrono and Rosette. I loved this series so much and I would love a good Chrono especially.
(Personally, I liked the ending of the anime more, but I liked the manga better all the way up until the end. So I'm very fond of them both because they combine for the perfect story in my opinion hahaha)

If Kotobukiya would make them, I would be like:

    I try to keep hope!

Chrono is also my favorite character from the franchise, but Azmaria comes a close second. <3

The anime ending was a lot more saddening, but the manga version made me think a lot more about all the events that happened during the franchise (instead of INSTANTLY GETTING SUPER SAD). I got more peace with the manga ending because of that, although the anime ending was so shocking that it stuck to me for a while. Anyway, that's the reason why I recommend both! Both endings are really interesting in their own way. :)

Maakie (4 days ago) #29499481Do you have any idea where the 4000 yen price comes from? Because I would expect these to be 'regular' prize figure prices, like inbetween 1000 and 2000 yen. 4000 would make it seem like either a scaled figure or a very overpriced prize campaign. Did you find some more information somewhere online? Would love to read more about this release myself too!

Aimaileafy (4 days ago) #29493671Seeing this figure makes me kinda sad ;; Chrno Crusade has been one of my major anime/manga-series in my youth. I loooved the series so much! It makes me sad that we most likely never will see a proper figure of neither her nor Chrono, even if esspecially Rosette has a lot of potential for a very good figure. It surprises me that the series is so well-known in America! In the EU its rather unknown (and I guess in Japan too or else we would have more figures to choose from).
Thanks for the awesome review! It was interessting as always ♥

Don't say that! Have hope! Maybe one day there will be more! TT^TT And well, I'm from Europe too. :P And specifically in the Netherlands I regularly see new cosplayers doing a Chrono + Rosette combo. I know from a lot of Belgian and German people that Chrono Crusade was a hit over there too and a lot of people have fond memroies of it. :) In America it seems to be well known too, but I don't know if it's on the same level as the Netherlands and neighboring countries. In Japan it was not much of a hit though, which explains the low amount of merchandise. :(

Thank you for liking the review! :)

victorviper (4 days ago) #29496053You can definitely tell that this is an old figure from a sort of second-tier manufacturer. However, I certainly understand how a lower-quality figure of a much-liked character can still be an enjoyable figure. I've been there :).
I think we've discussed this before, but it's too bad that neither this company nor anyone else ever made a painted PVC figure of Azmaria Hendric. I'd so buy one...
I had to look up Aruze in the database, and it would be interesting to know more about who that company was. It looks like they were only active for a couple of years, they made some Chrono Crusade figures, some Super Mahjong figures, and some Night on the Galactic Railroad (!) figures and then just sort of disappeared.
It was funny that you mentioned ITEM #5206 as a similarly old figure that's of much higher quality, but looking at those Koto Comic Party figures, they really are not too bad for figures made back in 2004!

Second-tier is a nice way to call them, haha! It's indeed quite a strange company, only for a short time in the market, with what seems to be mainly prize items and figures and a bunch of trading figures.

Azmaria is a fan-favorite (I'm pretty sure most of the doujin merchandise out there from Chrono Crusade is of Azmaria :P), she does have a few garage kits, but I'm surprised that this trio-figure set doesn't have her instead of 2 Rosette's (I guess the company wanted to keep costs low).

A lot of older Koto figures are still very very nice, I still like the Rosseti figure blog/34864 I reviewed not very long ago. :)

Shaolan-kun (4 days ago) #29497935Fun fact: the correct name is "Chrono Crusade", of course. But it's also known as Chrno, as it appeared on the first edition of the manga, because the author, Daisuke Moriyama, wrote it wrong when designing the logo.

I know it's a mistranslation, but I always liked the use of Chrno more, it makes it more unique. :) But ever since I learned that (a few years ago) I try to type it like Chrono mostly as that was how it was intended. ^^ Also, I quite like the logo, mistranslated and all. xD

Coffee (4 days ago) #29498066It was never supposed to sold as a standard release though.
Don't know why the price tag is listed on MFC but even the box for these say "amusement only, not for commercial sale".
