Comments Garage Kit Project - Original Character - Prom 1/7 Ireba Dou GK

  • CrowMaiden5 months ago#77025955Thank you for fixing it! I love seeing your progress through the kits, and how you've been getting better each time! I love the colour palette you decided on for her, and the retro style look to her face. I think it was a good way to embrace how dated her design looks.

Glad it was worth fixing it for someone! ^^ I'm very excited to share the work on my next kit, because I've been really improving there as well (if I can say that about myself? haha). I finally feel like I'm getting more the hang of it.

I'm still very happy with the color palette for this figure, this figure is in general just such a strange design with a lot of random subjects thrown in there, and now she looks a bit more like...one whole? :P

Maakie5 months ago#77004150Hi! I just fixed image hosting for this blog. Please let me know if some don't show up for you or seem to be misplaced/out of context!
Yeah it is very discouraging, but I'm slowly fixing them up (and giving priority if people are commenting on it or request pictures to get fixed). I hope you enjoyed the blog now! :)

victorviper1 year ago#63532929A very interesting kit that I've never seen before, although I can't quite figure out what kind of creature she is supposed to be. The "suggested" pink and black color scheme with the black wings suggests a dark angel, but then the horns suggest she is a devil, but the horns are more like what you'd find on a minotaur or a similar creature...
In any event, GK blogs are always interesting to read. I wish I was patient enough to do a kit of my own.

I'll be honest, I find the design of this figure also to be a bit..messy? It's like they couldn't pick a theme to stick to. To me she seems the most like a demon where they went with a BDSM theme for the clothes and possible attacks/powers she has (looking at the whip and gloves).

GK's eat up a lot of your time! But at the same time it's also really relaxing to just put some music on and lose track of time while painting on a lazy Sunday. :)

Rajke1 year ago#63577459Thank you for uploading this blog. You did a nice job with the colorscheme you choose. The fun thing about it is that your version brings out more villain characteristics than the official does. I agree with what you wrote: The shading you have done looks very nice. The wings, gloves and bone parts are definitely my favorite parts of this figure.

Thank you for enjoying this work. :) Considering so much parts in this design look 'evil', like all the bones, the horns etc., it would feel like a waste to keep it all simple, as it would blend away the details (like what you see on the prototype picture). I'm very happy to have this more unique piece. :)

Act1 year ago#63355473Drive-by advice: Prime porous surfaces like foam or wood with a gesso first, then do the paint primer! You'll get a more even surface for the spray primer since gesso are thicker and designed to smooth out surfaces.
Always enjoy these! Thanks for posting :>

It actually has 3/4 of gesso-like undercoat material (didn't really cover it a lot in the blog as the base was more of an afterthought and the main focus the figure). I guess this kind of foam is just not really meant to have such details on like the name Prom here. I already selected a higher quality foam for the base of my Lelouch, which is looking better although it still being in progress. Still appreciate you dropping the tip, though! :) And thanks for liking the blog!

Marshmallowpie1 year ago#63330659It's interesting how much changing the colour scheme can change the figure, it works really well. The bone parts turned out awesome.
Lelouch looks nice too, looking forward to it.

Yeah, even in the original colors, they always felt a bit unfitting to me, so it was nice to just have no reference at all and go wild with painting this kit. :)

The bone parts are my favorite as well and working on Lelouch is going pretty smooth, I'm looking forward to sharing that progress later. :)

YarnYotsugi1 year ago#63330662Wow! You did an AMAZING job! Super impressive! I love the face, hair, skull parts, colors... WAIT... I just love everything! I can't wait to see your progress over time. I hope you keep posting! Have fun and keep up the good work!

Ahaha, you're making me blush! Thanks for liking it so much! I have been getting more active with GK's, but have less time for blogging, so I'm not sure how soon I'll have something new to share, but I'll keep on creating. :)

Redliger1 year ago#63347040Nice work as always. Keep it up! :)

Thank you very much! :D Same for you, I hope you have time soon to work on kits some more as well. :)
