What do you mean when you say you are out a few thousand dollars? Just because it was delayed after payment doesn't really mean you arent going to get the figure.

Oh you see I pay with M/C Which I then pay with Equity on my house. My bills get pais every month. So by paying them and not receiving the figurines in a timely patter means that I pay interest in a way and I have nothing to show for it. If the money were still in my account I would be making interest on it instead of them.

Oh and I do hope I get the figurines. Dome are pushed back to late Feb and others Late April. 4 month my money could be working for me.

I honestly like paying up front, so I use Solaris as much as possible. I don't see it as being "out" money; I've just paid ahead of time and I get it when I get it. None of this "it's an expensive month" business, or worrying about how much shipping is going to cost. They also let you adjust the value for customs purposes, but I don't have to worry about that since I'm in the US (which I'm grateful for).

What's your beef with AmiAmi? Is it just the customs fee thing?

I've mostly used AmiAmi but you said you've already tried them before.

I've been trying Hobby Search lately and they've been pretty good so far.

Look into Amazon.co.jp- they offer very cheap shipping via DHL (like less than 2000 yen for a 1/4 scale, to the USA) and they don't charge your credit card until the item ships. Their packing is very minimal but thanks to DHL the packages always arrive in 2 days for me, and in great shape.

Like they were offering the Stephanie Dola bunny and the shipping cost to the USA was only 1200 yen, so the total cost for that bunny was only 24,000 yen.

CDJapan's shipping costs have also been pretty reasonable for me, and I think there's an option to pay later (they have to preauthorize your credit card though). I always pay them up front via Paypal though, so I don't know much about it.

I normally just stick with amiami, NY, and Tokyo Otaku Mode for pre orders.

Tokyo otaku mode soes require full payment at the ti e of order, but I have always had good experiences with them.

Big in Japan all the way for me.

edit: You can pay for your orders anytime. Just send then an email when you have some cash and want an order off your mind and they'll send you an invoice even if the fig hasnt released. Or you wait until the release. Very convenient when it comes to managing your finances.
