It's nice you've been involved with this website for such a long time. Hello, MFC veteran! Thank you for your contributions to this website and community.
I hope there are easier ways for the members here to socialize and connect apart from blogs and articles. I'd love to interact with everyone here more. I wish you another happy five years with your hobby :)

So I can assume that all your sales plans are down the drain as well thanks to covid?
    ∠( ᐛ 」∠)_

And thank you! For sure I plan on at least for a while more being active in the blogs. I do expect to disappear a bit once I am finally about to go traveling again though, haha! But maybe everywhere on the internet it will then become more quiet?

Most of my friends here were either them reacting on my blogs or me reacting to theirs. Before it was also easier to befriend people through picture comments and forums but that seems less active nowadays. Some people seem to split up in their own Discord or social media groups, but that also takes away the activity from this website in a way.

Loria1 month ago#92754957Congrats! Thx for using the site for 10 years. It is impressive that you can maintain the hobby for such a long time. I wish I can be like u too.
Don't be afraid to add things into the database! Usually there will be an email sent to u if a item u added gets deleted. The reason for deletion will be included in the email. Anyway it is always welcomed to add + update things in the database!
Hmmmm. Maybe 5 years later version 4 will still be used and no new version comes out? Idk. But I do wish there are more active users.
P.S. I love reading your blogs and reviews. I often want to say sth after reading them, but idk what I should say (lol I can't understand myself too) and I'm a bit too lazy to type. Anyway please keep it up! <3

Thanks! As long as you stay within your spending and space limits it can be enjoyed for a long time! :) I definitely see myself doing this for at least another 10 years before thinking about that actual downsizing/quitting.

If I got $1 for every person that told me to 'just add things in the database' and another $1 for saying 'I will receive e-mails stating why something got deleted' I could buy a lot of merchandise LOL. :') Unfortunately almost every deletion mail I have received didn't state a reason. Also regularly my alerts would be closed without someone properly saying why/what/how happened. Sorry if I come off as rude, I just have experienced it like this for many years and it has just made my interest in the database go down except if it's for items I have owned/ordered/wished myself. It seems like we have a new wave of VIB's though, so maybe things are getting better.

I'm not sure if someone ever put down a timeline but some versions seemed to be closer to eachother than others. So who knows, maybe we will stay V4 for a longer time. I think V4 was mainly there to make the website more mobile friendly, so it should be good to go for a while more?

Haha thank you! And no worries. At moments like this it would have been nice if we still had an upvote system as that was basically the laziest way to say you liked something. ;)

TyjosAzari1 month ago#92754960Nice to see someone who's been on this site as almost as long as I have!
I thought I was one of the last few from that time period still active here since most who were here when I joined have moved on for this site.
Glad to see you have stuck around!

This made me interested to look at my friends list and it seems like my oldest friends on here are accounts 12 years old (I think that was also when Tsukiboard switched to be MFC, so the oldest your account can be?). When it comes to still active older accounts it seems like the oldest one is 11. Unless you mean specifically blogging, then it seems to be 10.

I would say a lot of the people seem to burst in here with a lot of activity and then also seem to leave after doing that for 2-3 years or so. The only accounts sticking around for long are people that seem to be active with the database part of their collection. Sometimes I do feel like an old fart still posting blogs here, haha.

gundamuk1 month ago#92681258Maakie, you have always had a positive outlook and presence for the years I’ve been on the site, and I’ve enjoyed your variety of blogs. Cheers to another 5 years!

Aw, that is very kind of you. Thank you! :)

    Hehe, I hope I didn't give more people a mid-collection crisis. :D Thank you!

RPG_FAN1281 month ago#92740657Congrats on the 10 year MFC account milestone! This year is my 10th year of collecting figures but I did not have/create an MFC account until about 2013.

I had been lurking here for multiple years before I decided to join. I really wanted to start reviewing and the audience here seemed good for that, so that was my main reason for joining. Then the fact that my collection was getting bigger around that time and you could properly index here on your profile turned out to be an even bigger advantage than I expected!

I think I've done a pretty good job but your words of wisdom can always be helpful!

You mean specifically about this website or the collecting hobby in general? Oh well, I will answer both. :)

    This website:
    1. Even though we're all in the same hobby, you can't match with everyone, so you'll eventually stumble into an unexpected fight somewhere or otherwise someone singling you out. Every community has it's rotten apples, so if this happens, just block the person from contacting you and if it's really bad (as in, the person is worthy of a ban), get in contact with someone with a MOD status here. Don't see 1 fight or 1 rude person as a reason to stop being active here (I have unfortunately seen some very good and active users here leave for reasons like this).
    2. If you're interested in adding things to the database, make sure to read the rules on here very well, make sure your information is from a reliable source and try to use good/approved similar entries as a reference point. The checkers on here can be pretty ruthless and multiple bad entries could get you banned from ever making entries again. I am sure my really bad entries from when I was a new user have let the MODs put me on a watchlist LOL.
    3. Especially if you're into collecting smaller/cheaper stuff, make sure to list everything well! If you rather not show that on your profile you can turn the visibility off for those areas. I say that as someone that had situations in the past of forgetting you already ordered some small goods somewhere to end up with doubles.

    The collection:
    1. This has probably been said to you a lot of times already, but be very careful of impulse buying when you are new. It seems like a lot of new people in the hobby seem to overbuy in the first couple of years to later either be stuck with too much stuff or seeing yourself needing to sell a lot of stuff (I'm feeling this now).
    2. If you don't have the proper display space for it, don't buy it! Unless you have some kind of exception like "I will move to a bigger place soon". For me having lots of boxed up pieces but no display space at multiple place where I lived has made me quite sad. Also I had situations where the figure's value dropped so much in the years I had it sealed in my possession, it would have been better to have not pre-ordered it and instead buying it years later when I did have the display space.
    3. Don't leave your figures out in the open! Get some kind of cabinet or display case. Dusting your figures get tiring very quickly and there will always be some dust you forget, so in general to give your figures a longer life, having them protected from dust is the best.

Wow, this already got long, but here is the possibly most important 3 of each. :)
