Yes, the Fate series, most specifically, Arthur Pendragon and Merlin
ITEM #739705
ITEM #806012
I also have their Nendoroids!
I might do the same with these two also

I just really like anime boys ^^
Having played the original Fate visual novel i always wondered how that series could be so popular with girls. But i guess the character design really makes people want to like it.

I don't collect figures of characters I don't know. That would be a never ending journey.

I don't do it, 99% of the time. I rarely did it, then regretted it after.

I typically keep my collection to figures from series I watch or at least know about. Lately though I have been opened to buying more figures that I don't know much about. I will buy figures from series I have not fully watched or gotten attached to and I am perfectly fine with that. Sometimes I do research on the character just out of curiosity.
This figure is the only one on my wish list I know absolutely nothing about but still want it cause it is gorgeous:

I have that Melissa figure too but it was a gift. My husband knows I love Halloween aesthetics and got it for me. He buys figures as works of art and never cares about the source material. I, on the other hand, do. So I buy figures of characters where I have a connection to something relating to it.
I don't have to be super familiar with it though. I have some Fate figures because the characters were designed by illustrators I like. Similarly, I have a lot of figures based on character designs by illustrators I support where I only know the illustration.

I am not familiar with the God Eater franchise but I am considering buying
ITEM #331543
since the design of this character fully appeals to my tastes. Shame, since I am not very interested in neither the game nor the anime which serves as inspiration to this particular figure. I love videogames, but this one seems too bland and farming-oriented, apart from the impossibility to switch dub option to Japanese. The anime apparently was a huge flop. What should I do? Until now, I only bought figures based in shows I really appreciate and have somewhat an impact on my life.

My collection is mostly Figma and S.H.Figuarts and they increase their prices a lot on the aftermarket, while on some shops you get really good preorder prices, so preordering can cost half of what you would usually spend. But especially with Figmas they are from Manga and Anime that are not available in Germany, while the preorder period is too short to find and watch the whole thing. So it happens to me a lot that i preorder figures of characters i don't know just because the figure looks decent. But as they are easy to resell it's not a problem.
For example i preordered the Nekopara Figmas as i know i like to play Visual Novels and this one is very popular. Then i found out it's just a kinetic novel without any choices for story progression and i don't intend to ever buy that. But that's OK, their value has already doubled by now, so i'm sure i can sell them for a good price.
When i like the Anime it's even better. I preordered Raphtalia and Naofumi from Rising of the Shield Hero, got the chance to watch the anime and i really liked it. By that time the price for Raphtalia already rose over 100€. It's not the best figure for posability, but Naofumi would be really lonely without her. When i read KonoSuba all the Figmas were already released and i only managed to get Aqua and Darkness for a next to normal price which at least makes up a little for Megumin's price. Still hunting for an affordable Kazuma.
I usually pay my preorders a few months ahead so it doesn't block my bank account too much if i really need some money and i use an excel sheet to manage my preorders, so it's not really stressful. It lowers the cost of my collection and i get to watch shows i otherwise would never try, but if i didn't watch the shows i wouldn't want the figures, so i guess it's not really saving money, but just getting more for your money, but i'm OK with that.

I'm usually not even interested in buying a figure unless I know and like the source material, the emotional connection tends to be part of the incentive for me. Though recently I've been more and more lenient and for example watched EVA just because I thought
ITEM #872778
looked cool, or preordered my first Original Character (and Myethos!) figure with
ITEM #1050797
.
Same goes for the Medium5 Stardust/Xingchen (not in the database). I've been getting a lot of characters I don't have the biggest attachment to just because I like the aesthetic, recently...

For the sake of my wallet I currently only stick to buying figures of characters I really love. I wouldn't enjoy a figure as much if I don't feel some form of connection to it.
