I can imagine that shipping prices between stores will vary due to packaging. However, since shipping shouldn't be so different that it would make a difference. Unless there is a discount involved, the shipping should be more or less the same. They're all using JapanPost after all.

I have him ordered at amiami as well and I'm not all that worried about shipping prices. According to Hobby Search he is most likely small enough for SAL and then shipping shouldn't be to bad (maybe $20 to $30 ish at the most? depending on the yen exchange rate). But if you picked EMS it would be more then that, but still not $80. So try not to worry about it to much. ^^

As far as I have found they are more or less the same as everyone else. Though depending on what your ordering, specificaly books, HLJ is better on account of FEDEX being a shipping option (costs about the same as SAL but gets you EMS speed).

I don't find their shipping costs are higher than what it's charged in other stores.

Many people complain but for me their prices are pretty much in the same as other stores that pack things the way they do (type of box, paper cushion...).

I always complain about Mandarake but people seem think it's a fair price and people always complain about AmiAmi and I (almost) always think it's a fair price.

I don't know what to tell you mate. I don't think this figure you mentioned will be heavy or big enough to have expensive shipping. Just wait and see.

AmiAmi tends to have lower item prices but slightly higher shipping prices overall.

Depends on what kind of shipping you will choose.
EMS is always expensive. However, I don't complain - the shipping might be A BIT higher, but the overall price is still lower.
