I once let a really rare item slip from my fingers because I didn't stay up to 1 am to see the auction through. I was outbid by just 100 yen, and regret it to this day because it's unlikely I'll ever get anouther chance to get it. Sorry about your cup!

Cantisama (1 year ago) #27451468There is no need to watch an eBay auction as it ends. Simply put in the maximum amount of money you are willing to pay for the item. eBay automatically inputs your bid at the lowest increment possible, and then auto increments if someone beats your current bid, increasing your bid until it reaches the maximum you specified. If no one outbids your maximum, you win and pay the highest amount the bidding got to.
Good luck on your future eBay finds!

That almost makes this process feel cheapened somehow. Where is the fun in placing bids on an action if the next guy does it all automatically. I guess I am to old school for these modern processes.

There is no fun in that then as if I had not screwed up and the bid had been placed then a counter could have been made at the very last second.

Bah now this is discouraging for future auctions.

I was just about to say this haha I'll usually put in the min I find for "buy it now" listings when I do auctions. That way if it gets out o hand I can stop and just go to one of the "buy it now" items so I don't lose money.

I think any loss of an auction in this hobby is horrific. 3: It's been a long while since went for an auction too, though i remember that happening to me too once. I think even if you're "logged in" it makes you reconfirm your login when you try to bid, then afterwards you confirm your bid once more? Annoying.

I don't like stressing over last second grabs so i prefer to just put my maximum bid in right away, or a little bit before the end. That may be what the other guy had done as well; so even if you had gotten your bid in and they had a maximum bid of say 40$, it would automatically counter your bid and you still would've lost anyway. So don't beat yourself up about it.
Still it's a shame, those mugs are cute. >:

Oh gosh, I feel for you so much because that has happened to me before, too. I was bidding on this cute little Aileen Dragon aileendoll.com/... and was waiting to place my final bid just seconds before the sale ended.

But when I hit that button it directed me to login. It's so frustrating when that happens. I stayed up way past the time I usually go to sleep as well. And funny enough, I used a link from my email to go to the product as well. XD
