[NSFW] Skytube VS NativeComments • [NSFW] Skytube VS Native

Tough call. I think Skytube produces some top notch figures lately and often manages to hit my personal preferences in terms of character design and poses. Skytube also wins hands-down the anatomy contest with some of Native's figures like ITEM #676087 or ITEM #331654 looking rather disappointing "down there".

Skytube's designs are very flexible in terms of display options - most of them offer great SFW display options with all the naughty bits covered up. They're also a little more on the cute side, maybe a little shy and embarassed but nothing too controversial. Even when the girl might have a torpedo stuck in her vagina - she still manages to look adorable, somehow XD.

Native seems more varied with the diverse brands, manufacturers and scales under their umbrella. They seem more hardcore and may feature bondage/BDSM themes or a waitress serving mugs full of cum... which often makes it impossible to display in a SFW environment. Not that I'd mind, it's just not for everyone's taste.

Quality-wise, I don't see huge differences anymore. Native has sometimes a little edge in the paint department, but not with all of their figures (e.g. ITEM #773406). Binding's 1/4 figures look amazing, but they sometimes do not appear any more detailed than the smaller scales - they're just bigger.

What I like about Native is their inclusion of props and furniture. Skytube often only does the girl itself and maybe includes some small props (torpedoes, instruments, toys, etc.). With Native you get chairs, tables, counters, swimming pool ladders and more. Not all of the time, but a little more often than Skytube. Then again, the bases/furniture are not always that great (ITEM #773406 again) and Skytube has much better prices because of it. At least in the past... lately they've been aggressively increasing their prices as well.

Overall, it's Skytube for me. I just own/order a lot more of their figures. Almost every new release/announcement immediately appeals to me, while it's a lot more hit and miss with Native. No wonder, given their wider range of figures.

... also, BINDing, wtf? Where are ITEM #604760, ITEM #604762 and ITEM #604763? Nothing in 2019 and doesn't look like we're getting any of them this year, either ...

Native is more diverse and better imo. I loved cat lap milk, the futa figures, and especially Aoba Seragaki

D_A_R (15 days ago) #73861826Are there any companies distributed by Native that you wouldn't recommend? I like some of the figures you listed, but (of course) I don't want to buy an expensive figure that lacks quality. I'm still new to collecting figures. The only "high quality" NSFW statues I got so far are either from Dragon Toy or Skytube. Any help would be much appreciated.
It's difficult to answer that since quality is subjective. On the other hand, I would tend to trust a company that has released many figures over one that has only released a few, and from the MFC database, it's relatively easy to find the number of figures each has manufactured:

    ENTRY #124020 Binding: 70
    ENTRY #152514 Frog: 11
    ENTRY #148743 Jugoya: 1
    ENTRY #99140 Kalmia Project: 30
    ENTRY #117961 Progress: 15
    ENTRY #79559 Rocket Boy: 32
    ENTRY #159654 Samelap: 3
    ENTRY #109734 Second Axe: 7

Based on this, I'd consider Binding, Kalmia Project and Rocket Boy to be fairly well-established, and thus they should be able to produce figures with consistent quality. Ones like Jugoya and Samelap don't have enough releases to make a complete determination for how consistent their quality will be.

    For comparison:
    Figures manufactured by Native: 98
Figures manufactured by Alphamax: 307 (171 in Skytube figure line)

Even with the bump in price and/or quality from Skytube, I would still say that they have a specific audience that they're marketing to. It makes it difficult for me to compare.

For example: Some of the manufacturers under Native lean toward 1/4 bunny figures of original characters. While Skytube leans toward 1/6 scales that can be original or anime/manga characters.

That's a rather eye-opening list. I think a lot of people make the mistake of blindly associating the figures distributed by Native as being made by Native, but that's clearly not the case.

BIPSY (15 days ago) #73804448One thing to keep in mind is that Native (the site) acts as a distributor for other brands - they aren't sub-brands so much as they are other, smaller brands that sell through the main Native site.
This is an important point. Native is both a distributor and a manufacturer. By contrast, Alphamax is a manufacturer and Skytube is one of their lines of figures. For a meaningful comparison, it should only compare figures manufactured by Native vs. figures manufactured by Alphamax.

Of the examples listed, these are the only ones that are actually manufactured by Native:
    ITEM #464782
    ITEM #704029
    ITEM #287156

These figures are not manufactured by Native, they are just distributed by them:
    ITEM #604598
    ITEM #604599
    ITEM #806163
    ITEM #773406
    ITEM #740548
    ITEM #740315
    ITEM #713864
    ITEM #713863
    ITEM #674652
    ITEM #674066
    ITEM #604600
    ITEM #676121
    ITEM #676109
    ITEM #676105
    ITEM #676104
    ITEM #676087
    ITEM #676080
    ITEM #676050
    ITEM #604603
    ITEM #605217
    ITEM #604593
    ITEM #604589
    ITEM #549703
    ITEM #549568
    ITEM #549571
    ITEM #549575
    ITEM #547893
    ITEM #464774
    ITEM #464770

I back then started with Native, having Cat Lap Milk as first real NSFW fig from them. I always loved their quality and painting job.
    However Skytube improved alot!
And While Native keeps disappoint me with them recently only release and announce figs with way too big Oppai or Lolis, Skytube keeps making me happy announcing Figures from Artworks I like really much (Especially Misaki Kurehito ones)
Sadly Native STILL didn't show the Before & After as painted and it slowly seems that one got forgotten due to their other Projects that are simply not my taste at all (I speak only for myself at this point! there are a few of Native that my Brother actually like)

So for now I prefer Skytube for my ecchi collecting which luckily for my wallet, became less anyway

Qualitywise both company's do an amazing job and I can't decide who does better, in my opinion they both do very very well and are both my most prefered Company when it comes to NSFW figures

BIPSY (15 days ago) #73804448[...] If we're talking about Native itself, they win hands down. Native's quality is second to none and the sheer attention to detail they put into every release is amazing. Some of the other brands distributed through the Native site are a bit less impressive and I think Skytube could beat them out.
Skytube makes great figures and their quality keeps improving - the NekoPara figures that went up for PO this week look killer - but Native (the maker) is hands down the king of the mountain when it comes to adult-oriented figures.

    Yup! I agree!

At this point, I think Alphamax's Skytube line has surpassed Native in 3 primary measurements:
    • Customization options offered by their figures (number of swapable and/or removable parts)
    • Ownership of their figures (number of yearly manufactured figures x number of collectors reporting owning/ordering those figures)
    • Style of their figures (figure theme, anatomical detail, etc)

#1 and #2 are fairly objective and there is available data to support those. #3 is subjective but I can point to several examples where recent Alphamax's Skytube figures clearly beat Native's.
