About Melia I have to agree though. Her OG design is just too iconic for her (in the means of, I relate more to the old design as the new one) that I kinda dislike that they used her „new“ design. But thats a thing a lot of manufactures do when characters have „newer“ versions of their design. POed anyway bc it’s Xenoblade and I take everything they‘re willing to give. I‘m glad they went with her blade form tbh. Its such a beautiful design and goes well alongside Pyra & Mythra. My fav blade in the whole game.
I do like the designs, PO-ed both of them. I guess it's kinda the game's fault... "You are a fan of Nia? Here's a new cool design for her! You want to use it? Well, then you'll have to demote her to an AI-controlled background character and play Rex instead!" So my experience ended up being 130 hours of controlling the jumpsuit form, and 5 hours of getting short glimpses of the blade form.

Let's direct our complaints at the fact that they chose the blade version of Nia, and the DLC version of Melia for figures.

Just because XC1 is 10/10, people should not turn away from the 8/10 XC2. They're both amazing. XC2 went a bit hard on the anime stuff, but it's a small price to pay for having catgirls, right?

Having enjoyed XC1 so much I held out hope for XC2 until the very end to turn it around, it didn't. I gave it more than a fair chance and as much as this reality pains me, it is just garbage to me. :(
The first third introduced a bunch of interesting story strings and concepts that later either turned into stupid drivel or were never mentioned again. (didn't help that Rex & Homura are some of the most unlikable characters I've ever come across in fiction)
View spoilerThe whole exposition and "explanation" about why the world is the way it is by the architect in the end is so harebrained, I have trouble believing someone actually came up with that and thought it would be a good idea to put in a story. Zanza wasn't all that smart already but it seems he took all his 5 brain cells with him to the XC1 universe and left the architect as a talking vegetable.
I did like SOME characters though. Like Nia for example, which is why I'm getting this figure. The world and music are also not bad, just dragged down by the story, gacha and Rex & Homura. To me XC2 is a bitter waste of potential.
EDIT: I hope this ends this back and forth. I only jokingly told a person I envied them for not having played the game. I never questioned someone who likes the game (like you apparently) whether they have finished the game or not. That's your opinion and that's fine, please give me the same courtesy as I give you. You know, I also could have asked you to do the "Not getting your panties in a twist over someone not liking XC2 for an entire minute challenge". ;P Finished it and hated it, yes. About 170 hours of which most were lost to the stupid lootboxes to get access to the only good story bits, which were linked to the rare blades. But sure, because I don't feel the same as others about the first third, I must not have finished the game. XD
I’ve heard that from a friend about the loot box thing, it did sound like a nightmare

Klon Solo Rei basta!

I struggled a lot wit this game as well. Played about a 1/3 of it and gave up. About a year later I played it again and finished it. Although I do understand every point of your critic I really liked the game in the end. Since I haven't played XC1 before, learning where we are in XC2 was a real "Planet of the Apes" (the film with Charlton Heston) moment for me and while I had my difficulties with Homura and even Hikari, I loved them as they became Hatsune Miku! XD
I played XC1 afterwards and while it was a good game, I did enjoy XC2 more. I don't know, maybe it's almost always the case that we do like the part of a game series we played the first the most.

Yeah you clearly didn't finish it, the first third is litteraly universally considered the worst part. You Finished a 100H long game that you hated the entire time?

Nope, played through the entire game and that was the mistake. Should have stopped after the first third, when it was still somewhat good.

So instead I'm just gonna hope they do a figure for Brighid, Lora, or Fiora figure in the future instead as copium.
