I bought the HOTD Omnibus 2 which released on Dec 17th. There is an interview in HOTD Omnibus 2 with the author Sato Daisuke. Do you guys remember the earthquake that happened in Japan? The earthquake happened when he just released Vol 7. Daisuke thought that continuing to write about a post apocalyptic manga as a form of entertainment would be wrong with all the chaos and devastation. He lost his will to write. After a couple months passed and Japan started to come back in order, Daisuke continued to write HOTD but then he became extremely ill and was admitted into the hospital. Now that he has recovered, he said HOTD will comeback.

Even though the zombie genre is starting to get saturated, I will welcome HOTD back any day. HOTD was one of the first to start trending zombies as the next best things after vampire genres became saturated. So I'm really hoping HOTD manga comes back with a vengeance, followed by a 2nd anime season and tons of merchandise. I seriously can't get enough of HOTD.

You just said it, the series has been on hiatus for quite a while now. Not shooting the messenger, but unless that Yahoo post backed it up with facts, it's just idle speculation. Even my rebuttal below is speculation, but just showing the other side of the argument.

The anime ended in 2010 which was 2 years ago and the manga has been on hiatus. Not much merchandise is going to be produced in this circumstance. You can say the same with Hunter x Hunter. Good manga that just keeps going on hiatus, but it's only now getting new merchandise with the new anime.

Generally, merchandise comes along with anime, it's why the anime is created. So I doubt we'll see much merchandise unless another anime is made.

Also, that book, was an artbook from the author himself and the hiatus doesn't have to do with Triage X.

alamarco (5 years ago) #1252292Who says it's doing poorly in Japan? Seems like a pretty random assumption.
I have to admit, I quoted Yahoo answers...ak don't shoot me BUT
The fact that merchandise on pretty much all ordersites is starting to turn up "out of order" or "sold out" is one give-away.
The last piece of merchandice that was released was a wallscroll of dubious quality and a book that featured art of both Triage and Hotd and was a very limited release.

And for figurines...well nothing new in 2 years...

The series is pretty much on hold anyway, with the writer working on Triage.
