aeonblue (4 years ago) #2186874That's sad to hear (about the lack of Pokemon and the amount of black and white pages) especially considering the page count :( Thanks for letting us know!
No problem :)

I did a proper flip-through earlier today. There's a set of long interviews interspersed throughout the book, and most of the rest is art. Most of the color pages are dedicated to comics of Quinty, an early Game Freak title. There's also a few B&W Quinty comics pages and a long Jerry Boy (another early Game Freak game) comic story. The rest of the art is mostly production sketches for various old Game Freak titles, including the two mentioned above and Pulseman. At the back, there's a slim section about Pokemon, with color art of some of the human characters and Pokemon from the first gen games.

Given that its main focus is what Ken Sugimori's work was like pre-Pokemon, it should be checked out by anyone interested in Game Freak's history (especially those who can read Japanese), but it's safely skippable for most Pokemon fans. Hope a Pokemon-centric follow-up volume comes out in the future.

R_Kasahara (4 years ago) #2186566I just got my copy in and… well, it wasn't what I expected :/ Much of the book is black and white and consists of non-Pokemon manga by the artist. If you're a big fan of Ken Sugimori, it might be worth having, but don't expect a lot of Pokemon art (there really isn't much, considering the size of the book).
