HalfDarkShadow (2 years ago) #4268694Let me tell you hahah. So far the majority I've gotten weren't too bad (actually the Honoka, Nozomi, and Nico one's where in fantastic quality!), and my Maki wasn't too bad, but there's this odd mark (from hitting something, no idea what) but it's so small, I only remembered about it now typing this haha.
The one I was most looking forward too was the Kotori...everything was literally perfect and just fine, but there's this weird thing going on under her chin. It's like some piece of the plastic mold got stuck to her. I was able to sand most of it off, but there's still a mark from it. Lucky it was under the chin so it's definitely not noticeable unless you actually pick it up and so happen to look under her chin haha.
Beyond that, don't ever touch the Umi one, not even with a 15ft pole. I don't know what happened, but her head shape and face is so distorted, I don't even know where to begin (you can kind of see it in the pictures above). I went to 3 conventions this year, and all the vendors selling her all had the same distorted shape to her (that, and her elastic looking feet are kind of odd, but I digress). At least I know I didn't get some faulty one haha xD

I second your appraisal. I found exactly the same issues/qualities with mines. I only need to get Kotori and Nico, good to know they are among the good ones. Hanayo and Eli are also very good. The only problem with Maki is the hair is one solid color. Others have some kind of color gradient, but not her. I also have the same odd mark on her. A paint touch up covered it nicely.

Umi is now infamous! The trick is to shove a bit of plastic (or whatever available) between the neck and hair. It moves her head back in the right place. Someone on MFC suggested this idea and it really improves the overall appearance.

For 8$ to 18$ figures, they aren't not to bad with some little efforts.

sailormatlac (2 years ago) #3360686Quality checkup is all over the place with SEGA prize LL figures. I'm actually in the process of shading and repainting her. Funny how the Idolm@ster line up was almost flawless.
