mariijane (2 years ago) #3012790has anyone else noticed that the north american release of these are slightly different?
if they're distributed by Bluefin, there's no candy included and instead of a phone strap, they have ball-chains. kinda strange why they changed that. i understand releasing it without candy as, at least in the US, non-food related retailers would have to mark them differently to avoid problems with expiration dates and taxes. but removing the cell phone strap is kinda odd.

Yep, I came here to ask about this. I bought one of these in the UK and it didn't have candy or a phone strap, having seen the Japanese version beforehand I was a little confused...

Paulichu (2 years ago) #3082707Bluefin is just a distributor, and their merchandise is usually Japanese release, but given that most places in North America might not want to deal with the food regulations involved with the candy Bluefin has probably released the Bandai Asia release (or maybe another Japanese edition without the candy?).
It's likely that all of the boxes are exactly the same. The only differences would be the contents and maybe the colour/numbering of the TOEI sticker.

to my knowledge there is no japanese release without the candy and phone charm strap. (i'm aware bluefin is a distributer.) i'm under the impression that there's no "asia release" but just an "everywhere else" version without the candy and with the ball chain. i have three that were purchased from a local store and one from japan: the bluefin version has a number of differences on the box compared to the jp one i have. specifically there are different stickers placed on it and stamped on the box is an address in english.

i have a feeling due to concerns with food products, they may have just sent the alternative version worldwide by different distributers.

i still question why they removed the cell phone strap though.
