Paulichu Sailor Senshi of Wisdom
mariijane (3 years ago) #2700729from what i read a long time ago, much of the original anime's popularity was carried by the integration of their toys, the first major one was the moon stick. the anime/manga was actually supposed to be sentai "for girls" which in the 70s and 80s was HUGE on toys. (it's arguable whether the shows alone were actually that popular without the toys to go along with it!)

It's true. The series actually neared cancelling, but the very first toys saved it, and have continued keeping it popular for over 20 years now.
