I am absolutely certain it is illegal for such a good looking kit to exist.

Dschii (3 years ago) #3088066Remember that time when certain people claimed that male figures couldn't be done in such artistic and aesthetic ways like female ones, and thus weren't done much ?

Yeah, people like that are really self absorbed. It's sad and very hypocritical, there's a certain contingent of figure collectors who get really uncomfortable with "sexy" or sexualized male figures. It bothers them to think of women (and guys like me) who enjoy seeing the male form presented in a way that is designed to titillate and tease, just like the skimpy female character statues we get all the time.

The fact is I don't think anyone really thought that it wasn't possible to do figures in an artistic and aesthetic way, male figures and garage kits have been around as long as female ones that prove this line of thinking wrong.

It simply has to do with people being extremely uncomfortable, either with their own sexuality, or with other people's. A great example of this is the stir over on Benten's page. The most upvoted comments have to do with the fact that a fight broke out with people bitching about such a sexy, ambiguous figure of a male character.

I will say this: I'm glad to see the community slowly changing with regards to this. I'm glad to see more male figures getting made with a fanservice element that directly corresponds to what collectors of female figures have been getting for years. I'm glad to see more sensitivity to collectors that prefer collecting male figures. Seeing inclusivity for fans of yaoi series, and fans who just outright like sexualized male figures.

So, rock on figure community, and I hope we get more figures like this! :)

teapartyforone (6 months ago) #34367399I got him on sale for 21400 JPY, so not too crazy from the original! The hard part was mostly just finding a non-recast of him

Ooooh that's not bad! And yeah there's always so much recasts going around I always make sure to check the description and that they ship from Japan when I buy from auctions.

xueren (6 months ago) #34321138The prepainted was double the price at 38,000 yen iirc, also a rerelease is highly unlikely because the amateur licence from Nitro only allows sales of 200 copies.

teapartyforone (10 months ago) #31043749Is there a chance that a prepainted version of this will be released again, and how much was it in the past? I'm guessing 19,000 JPY is the unpainted version. I found out about this figure too late :'D

Since I'm not 100% on how the sales thing works on here, I'm adding a comment that I have a copy of him for sale for $500. He's 100% unopenned, and exactly as I received him. PM me if interested~
