LivingDaylight (1 year ago) #16790303It simple actually: don't like - don't buy.
Figure prices had risen two years ago, but you only noticed it today? lol
I'm gonna put him on stand by because there will be a lot of items I wanted more released in first half of 2017, but definitely gonna have him later.
I like how he turned out, glad they made arms removable and serious face is good.

Actually, this sort of perspective is unfair, especially to collectors in places like Europe or South America or heaven forbid somewhere else with terrible shipping fees and custom taxes. I'm new to the collecting scene, but it's not as if I don't see the dramatic increase of scales and Nendos from 2008 to now, especially since I've been collecting older figures. In the past, even people with moderate incomes were able to enjoy collecting, and everyone has their own needs. If the price of a figure must increase, the quality and number of accessories should at least match the MSRP to make it justifiable to anyone's wallet. First world problems, but at what point is a figure--especially one you like--too expensive to justify? 8k? 10k? 12k yen?

I'll definitely pick up Kacchan later on, but just because you personally follow the don't like-don't buy policy doesn't mean that everyone else has the same mindset. People are having to quit the hobby left and right because price hikes are spiraling out of control; I don't think that's good for an enthusiast community at all.

This prices for nendos is getting ridiculous. He comes with a couple of extra hands, little exchangeable hair part, a plate and a fire effect. And for that they want nearly 5k. I am glad I only have 3 nendos to go. GSC is starting to get insane.

They rereleased MHA keychains so maybe just maybe there is hope that everything is okay.

Noya will likely get a re-release. If not with Asahi it'll be with Tanaka (like how Tsuki got a re-release with Yama and I think Kenma got a re-release with Kuroo) Noya goes with both Asahi and Tanaka so he has double the chance of a re-release XD.

The thing with BnHA is that if they announced Todoroki or any other character then a re-release is likely. Even if they showed the prototype for the Bankugou figma there would be hope. But it's just been silence which is whats worrying.

yachinami (5 days ago) #31148621Noya-san better get a rerelease. I'd hate for my Karasuno team to have to go without their libero.
And as for something wrong with the MHA licenses, the lack of an announcement for a Todoroki Nendo, yet again, has left me in such a disappointed state that I can't even be very happy with the bunch of characters I wanted that *did* get figures this WonFes. (Not a state I ever let myself be in, because I'm way too old for that and, y'know, they're pieces of plastic. But now it's getting to me.) Whatever the issue though, they really should try to resolve things as quickly as possible and not let anything silly like wounded pride (just random speculation here) get in the way, as it would make so many fans happy, and these toy companies would be nowhere without their fans.

I feel you so bad, I'm that disappointed for the lack of BNHA that I can't enjoy this Wonfest at all. :(
I want so bad something with Kirishima and Todoroki, too.. Still hoping to see something in the near future but today I feel less positive then usual.

JohnnyRayflo (5 days ago) #31148506I'm pretty sure Noya will get a re-release with his ace soon but after not a single announcement nor an update about Bakugou's figma at WF there is definitly something wrong with BNHA. :/

yachinami (5 days ago) #31148449While something does seem rotten in the state of MHA, they aren't the only oddities. Despite Haikyuu getting regular releases and Hinata and Kageyama getting, what, three different releases, on top of alternate versions? They still refuse to do a rerelease for Nishinoya, whose aftermarket prices have also gone appallingly high. Funnily enough, he and Bakugou both share the same voice actor. Perhaps Okamoto Nobuhiko ran over the GSC president's dog or something.

maggie (8 days ago) #31103990I’ve been really interested in just what the holdup is w Academia merch. I agree it’s not a guaranteed re-release, but it would be dumb of them not to (but, maybe it’s not that they don’t want it, it’s that they can’t) especially because the timing is really good with season 3 coming in a few months. However, other nendos have had steady release announcements (Haikyuu, Naruto) while we’re getting complete silence about Academia.

I already have these, but I hope they get re-released to give people some relief, and are bundled with an announcement for 2 more. If not... man, I really have to wonder what is going on. I feel like, if not now, then never? The timing is so good and people are hurting for it.
Sorry, I’m just fascinated by this situation ^_^;; Usually companies all try to cash in, Academia figure items are so insanely restrained it boggles my mind.

I'm actually the same. I already own then but I'm so curious about how this is going to turn out, especially because I've never seen a nendo rise so much in the aftermarket. I just think people saying 'I'll wait till a re-release because one WILL come' might be thinking a bit tooooo positively (nothing wrong with thinking positively but there's a chance people will end up incredibly disapointed)

It seems incredibly likely something bad happened behind the scenes because GSC have been good with re-releasing nendos that have a high aftermarket price and as you said, they have been given us a steady release of new announcements for other series.... except for BnHA. I don't see why GSC wouldn't want to re-release these as they are so high in demand, so there has to be some other reason.

With the new season and wonfes if there isn't a re-release, an update on the Bakugou figma or any new announcments for the series then there is something wrong. It doesn't mean that we will never get them as it might be solved some time in the future (and I'm sure BnHA will be getting more seasons), it just means we won't get them any time soon. It just sucks seeing people speak so positively about it when there's a chance we won't get anything ;-;

aurybq (8 days ago) #31104091So I'm not familiar with how all this licensing stuff works but if they were able to make these nendoroids in the first place and 1 figma and release them without a problem, what happened that they can't continue?

There are many, MANY stipulations in contracts like these, how many figures you’re allowed, how long you have to release them, how limited the timing is, or even how limited the number is (or even what it looks like down to a ridiculous level). We have no idea what that contract looks like, so everything is just speculation.

Say you have a contract for 24 months to make something. You present a whole line of action figures (Nendoroid, or Figmas) that you want to make, and you both agree that it’s a good venture. But, the approval process is very picky. You keep submitting designs and they keep being rejected. FINALLY, they say ok and you slate it for release. But wait, it’s been so long and you only made one figure. Renew the contract? Is it worth it? I don’t know what those contracts look like for what terms or what sales are worth it, bottom line considered.

This is more for US contracts than Japanese ones, but if they’re anything alike, it can be very strict, specific, or anal about how characters are portrayed, sold, marketed, or the timing of release.

Banpresto is a part of Bandai, and they just rereleased some prize figures, so I know they must hold some rights at the moment to produce SOMETHING. Maybe at wonfest we’ll see some GEMs. Who knows.

AshuriiKareshi (9 days ago) #31103094Just to point out you can't 100% guarentee there will be a re-release. If GSC were running on the hype of the series they would have atleast announced todoroki by now. Because of all the rumors going round about licensing theres a chance we won't get more of these or any more characters. Some nendoroids that were released last year along with these that rose in price (Chuuya, Dazai and Rem for example) all got a re-release later that year. You also have to take into consideration literally none of the tomytec nendoroids have gotten a re-release in the past (I'm not sure how popular they're were though)
But with that said Wonfes is really close. If there's no new announcement for more BnHA characters or an update on the Bakugo figma then it seems more likely that theres issue on their end.
I just don't want people to get their hopes wishing for a re-release that may never come :(
