After the disappointment that the Nendoroids were, these are the only real figures left.

I mean, they'd have to try really hard to fail such a gorgeous prototype!!

GSC, please do them justice :(

I remember rushing from a late-night class to the movie theater to see this film (I drove 10 MPH over the speed limit just to make the 10:00 pm showing), then bawling my eyes out by the end. When I returned to the car, I was sitting there frantically scrolling on my phone for any merchandise that could memorialize my experience. I mean, the movie was released a bit later in the US (compared to Japan), so I was expecting at least something. As it turned out, there would be a Blu-Ray release by the end of October, but now I've stumbled upon this. Warms my heart. ♥

I've never pre-ordered a figure before, but... I will be pre-ordering Mitsuha, even if she's the last figure I'll ever own.

Pupazpupaz (7 days ago) #24520952Even Makoto Shinkai himself said in an interview how the movie still felt lacking for him plot wise, and that if he had more screen time and resources he could've done a better job.
He even told people to stop watching it and comparing him to Hayao Miyazaki lol.
For me, it's still one of the best animated movies of the last decade.
I saw it 4 times in theaters (3 in Japan and 1 in Italy) and it never failed to amaze me.
While it may have some problems, as every movie in existence, it's still better and much more enjoyable than the rest of the garbage that's coming out in these days....
P.S. As for the out-of-screen plot holes you were mentioning, I don't think that everything has to be explained carefully to the viewer to make an enjoyable and understandable movie.
Part of the fascinating fact about the plot is the very mistery behind the body swapping and all the folklore behind the belief of the "fated red string" that connects people in Japan.

Sorry for the late reply. Really interesting, I wasn't aware of Shinkai's own perception about the film shortcomings though I did heard he would have liked to have more time. Not explaining everything on screen is OK, at some point we are not watching a documentary, but some consistency helps to strengthen the overall impression. I do agree the view experience wasn't really impaired, which is already better than many of the boring garbage. ;-) And now I stop hijacking our poor Mitsuha's only PVC figure page. ;-)

sailormatlac (7 days ago) #24519781No amount of money can fix plot errors, no amount... It can only make the package sweeter and nicer. They basically crammed every overused tropes in recent years, topped with lots of out-of-screen plot holes and made it melodramatic as hell. I don't consider it a good movie at all because it don't hold water, but at least it managed to be a very charming theater. As someone said, technically speaking it's good (nice music, nice animation, emotions well timed, great backgroups, cute characters, etc.). In that respect, I had a great time each moment I watched it. And now back on Mitsuha... looks good, but am I the only who think something is off on her face from certain angle. Not sure I'll preorder, but she's on the wishlist. Nice school girl figures that a charming ladies and not oversexualised bimbos are always welcomed!

PVCollectorAaron (13 days ago) #24269175They actually ran out of money during the making of the movie. So it could've been a lot better, and imo it is already good for what it is.
