The paint job falls out of her dress and goes onto her skin in certain places, and looks a bit shoddy at some small places...maybe I'm nitpicking but it does bother me, especially at this price. Don't know if we'll get another Rin/Ishtar tho, there are barely any compared to sabers

In my experience with Aniplex distributed figures such as the king artoria figure that came out a few months ago, paint transfers are common and the quality is not top of the line, which is unfortunate given the price tag.

airking (8 days ago) #28350939In my experience their prices are fair and they genuinely try to provide top customer service, so I don't think you're a fool for having purchased there, even if you didn't get the "best possible price". That's one of the problems with shopping at TOM. Many times I've bought something, no matter how good the sale was, they had a better sale afterwards. It's not like AmiAmi where a figure pre-order might be "15% off" and it's just... always 15% off. OtakuMode uses every trick in the book, so while you can often get a good deal, there's a number of caveats as well. I could easily understand people shopping there because of their customer service, regardless of price, as well as not shopping there on principle of their other business practices.

I can see that. TOM probably makes sense for opportunistic shopping (items you buy only if the right deal comes along).

shiroitora (16 days ago) #27962089Just so I understand, you all are considering $100 TOM points as "cash back"? Can someone explain the whole "buy candy" thing? Does it help rack up TOM points? Sorry for any n00b questions. I spent $180 on this at TOM so I want to make sure I wasn't being a fool.

High_Hand (15 days ago) #28015053If I recall correctly, Tokyo otaku mode had a promotion where of you bought 31 items, you'd get 31x(or some other large number) TOM points(which you can use to get discounts on future figures). What people did to not break their banks was buy the figure they wanted, and fill their cart with 30 snacks/candies that cost on average 1-2 dollars each to get the 31x TOM points.

Interesting, thanks for explaining. Not sure who would buy 31 things of any significant value in one checkout so it probably encouraged cart stuffing dollar-store style. Looking back I should have waited for some multiplier promotion instead of buying it outright at TOM. I caved in to impulse as I've been eyeing ITEM #26700 for years with no success of finding it at a reasonable price and here comes something with the same wind-tossed hair!

Azaizer (15 days ago) #28027622Basically what High_Hand just explained. That cashback is basically BONUS MONEY you get to use towards future purchases on TOM. So essentially they are more or less kind of HOLDING ONTO some of the money you originally spent so you can come back later and buy more from them LOL. It's a never ending cycle of getting us to buy more stuff from them XD

Ok, makes sense for frequent buyers... thanks.
