Taya (1 year ago) #31016704Wow I'm surprised yours has so many problems! Painting isn't the best, but mine has no paint transfers, except for a very small one on her back. What struck me though are her proportions which seem a bit off. Otherwise I didn't find any problems with mine, I hope they'll send you a new one.

Thanks for your kind words. I got mine using a proxy shopping service so the chance of getting a replacement is like 50-50. I'm still waiting for Amazon's reply. It's so unbelievable that most people who placed an order on Amazon Japan got near perfect figures of Lightning, while I didn't.
Of course Square could never get Lightning's proportion right imho. This Lightning has the most beautiful hair, eyes and skin, but her legs, oh her humongous legs are simply unacceptable. Are they trying to show off her muscles? Jesus, that one thing already strips Lightning of her aesthetics.
Out of the 4 Lightning Play Arts Kai figures, I rank the Lightning Returns one the highest. She would have been perfect if it wasn't for her yellowish skin tone.

Zodier02 (1 year ago) #30989720I received mine today, ordered from Amazon Japan. And yes, my expectations failed me (yet another time!).
Once again, Square impressed me with how their figures could be so... vastly different from the prototype. I'm not saying that Lightning doesn't look good and isn't an improvement from her previous versions; in fact, I am very pleased with her face and transparent hair, as well as the package design; but the other parts, definitely not so much. These are the two most annoying problems I've found after a quick inspection:
- Paint smears are literally everywhere: three small black dots on her face, red paint on her jacket, on the belts, on the accessories, and even on her left calf?! Do they even recheck their figures before exporting?
- I like Blaze Edge in both modes, but could they at least reconsider the quality control of their factories? Is painting a simple gun blade with only 3 colors THAT HARD that they couldn't even paint in line?
I'd repaint her for sure since I can't accept this failure of a Lightning figure.
If only Square Enix would let other companies manufacture their FF line (haha, never gonna happen).
I'd say that Max Factory's figma, Bandai's SHFiguarts, and Medicos's RAH & VAH could absolutely accomplish so much more than these poorly produced Play Arts Kai could ever do.
Edit: Wow, her right leg literally fell out, and she's missing her left brass knuckle. I'm sending her back for a replacement. This is so unacceptable.

MandiLynn (1 year ago) #30902601The hair is transparent and her face doesn't look like the prototype at all. This doesn't really surprise me at this point with PAK, but I thought I would leave a comment here for anyone considering purchasing her. :)
That is depressing to learn. PAK figs are such a let down for me tbh, but they are the only ones that make certain characters i want.. o well
