Jason_Wander (1 month ago) #26610650Still not sure if I was lucky or unlucky as I saw plenty of pics where the entire leg had broken off at the waist picture/1817428...
Pulchra just doesn't do crap for protecting their resin figs in Japan or shipping ocerseas.nothing in the boxes to prevent this kind of stuff.

Thanks for the picture. It seems not only the protection is faulty, but in this particular case the design too. Such a large and stubby pin in a weak part of the figure makes no sense. It was bound to break. Most people do a better job when building their own garage kit. Also, the way it broke shows it's quite a brittle resin and not a softer one usually found on garage kits. Not that I'm surprised, most prepainted figures are generally brittle (I own a few ones).

Yet, I don't think Kiriha should have the same issue, her design is quite "monkey proof" (she's sitting). Anyway, I find it strange they still make prepainted resin figures in 2017. Generally, you use it for small production run since tooling cost far less (rubber molds cost next to nothing compared to injection tooling but don't last a long time) or when you want extremely crisp and intricate details (which is obviously not the case with this figure).

It's quite sturdy in fact. It is brittle and unreliable for parts with small cross section (pointy hair, delicate ribbons, fine staff or sword, etc.). Given her very simplistic design, I wouldn't be afraid of damage during shipping. If she had more intricate parts, I would be worried. Cold cast and other stuff like that is truly bad material IMHO.

PanchitoMatte (2 months ago) #25881112Is that so...? Well, then am I missing something? All I could find online about resin, as a material, was that it hardens by intense heat, and that once hardened, it cannot be reshaped by heat. Is resin a particularly brittle material? Surely a company would learn their lesson and package the items appropriately, no? If not, why even make Kiriha out of resin in the first place? Surely its not an overly cheap material, otherwise they wouldn't be charging well over ¥13,000. Also, aren't garage kits made from resin?
View spoilerHide spoilerI feel so confused! It sure seems like resin is not special in any way.
